I'm willing to bet that many, many viruses do that. Viruses are assholes. I bet that if we're able to delete viruses that integrated themselves into our cells permanently (like the herpes virus for example - most people are infected with it), we will solve a lot of ageing-related diseases.

The flu and shingles have been implicated.

The long and short term impacts of covid vs flu were studied, and covid won the nasty virus competition easily. It's shocking how casually people are getting with it covid, against all recent evidence.
