I really, really wonder how he got shot in his eye, but the cops were able to miss the wound for 6 hours? Or did it go in from a strange, unseen angle? Very interesting

They missed the bullet holes (entry and exit) going through his nose also.

It's surprisingly easy to miss such things when you don't see any Non-Cop as actual human being but merely cattle...

And of course the age old "We really don't want to deal with that, the guy is there and confused, just get him to confess and we can close the case and get an early lunch".

It is amazing that they couldn't see it when it is obvious immediately even from a distance in the low resolution video.
