Oh, easy—I see something broken and immediately decide I got this. I convince myself it’ll be a quick fix. Maybe an hour tops, two if I’m feeling dramatic. Fast forward 2-3 weeks… the project’s still half done, I’ve had zero free time and many work and family health things come up to finish it, and somewhere along the way I managed to break another part just trying to fix the leaking axles seals.

Naturally, I’ve now spent $100+ on tools I didn’t own (and definitely didn’t need but made the job much easier), $120 on parts I broke in the process(air locker sleeve), and YouTube has convinced me I’m a professional despite all evidence to the contrary.

But hey, at least I “saved money” by not taking it to a shop… right?

2025/26Cape York trip, including OTT, Frenchmens track. 4-6 weeks round trip from Sydney.

Any suggestions or advice from anyone that has done the Cape?

Trying to be smart with storage, any tips?

My biggest concern is wheel size and lift. Currently on 30” Ko2 and 2” OME lift hoping this would suffice?

Standard airbox with snorkel survive?

I’m an art historian researching an artist who worked on a vineyard in Napa in the 1960s. This bad*ss photograph was taken of her in 1965. I thought it was some kind of tractor/work vehicle but r/tractor id’ed it as a jeep. Any idea which one? Someone guessed cj2a

Willys (Xtreme Recon) vs Sport S for Mostly City Driving — Need Advice

Upvotes

Hey all, I've always want a Jeep growing up and I'm now eyeing a 2025 Willys (4-door) with the Xtreme Recon Package and 3.6L engine. The out-the-door price is $54K. Thoughts on the price?

Some context:

  • Mostly city driving
  • My partner and I both WFH, so low mileage overall
  • We test drove a new Sport S and it felt tilty—like our heads were wobbling side-to-side over small bumps. Is that typical of all Sport S trims or was that one just off?

I’m still open to a Sport S — it’s more gas-efficient and sits lower, which might make more sense for our city lifestyle. Just trying to weigh it all out.

Also, we might try for a baby next year. We know Wranglers aren’t ideal for families, but it’s not a dealbreaker. We’re open to managing the quirks or adding a second car later if needed.

Appreciate any thoughts or suggestions!

Technical Question Lost key fob?

Upvotes

I lost the key fob to my 2021 jeep wrangler. How do I prevent someone from stealing my car if someone else has the fob? Can the dealership/mechanic reprogram the car? Do you know how much it will cost?

Thinking of a 1st gen Liberty, but worried about electrical issues

Upvotes

I always liked the Liberty. I'm in the market for a fixer-upper to drive for a year or so. I'm not scared by most car repairs, but major electrical issues aren't my strong suit. What kind of electrical issues should I expect, and how much of an ordeal would it be to fix them?

Tailgate bar annoying

Upvotes

I have a wrangler 4xe soft top and love it for many reasons however since recently having a baby I’ve become frustrated with it. The most annoying aspect is the tailgate bar when trying to get all the essentials; strollers, diaper bags, pack n play, etc into the back due to the tailgate bar. Is there a way to easily remove in order to access the space without having to use such stance angles? Am I missing something or is there not a remedy? TIA

2015 KL Cherokee TH Maintenance?

Hey Jeepers! I’ll start by saying I know my KL is just a reskinned Dodge dart, but my 225k mile 01 XJ crapped out at a time when I couldn’t afford to fix it. So here I am.

I’m at 105k on my 2015 KL. It’s the V6 with the ZF 9 speed they can’t figure out how to program. I replaced the oil cooler and plugs and packs already, but it’s still bleeding oil. It was a Dorman so I’m thinking pull it back apart to replace the gaskets.

After that, any maintenance recs? I need a coolant flush, hopefully have the transmission serviced/fluid replaced (filter replacement probably isn’t happening on this one since I heard it requires a lot of labor). Should I do differentials? Shocks/struts are probably due. Anything else?

I read the manual schedule to head off those comments, looking for real life experiences.

Thanks!

Wiring Electrical Issue

Looking for some assistance in identifying a replacement.

I’ve noticed my lights working all wonky. They’re dimming in and out at random times. If I have my fog lights on, they turn off and on. My interior light no longer comes on.

I saw that what looks to be the fog lights working wiring harness in the driver side wheel well is exposed.

Could this be the issue? Any direction in a replacement?

Bathroom while on Easter Jeep safari

Weird question sorry!! And this is mainly for women, but where do you go to the bathroom while on trail rides? I hear they go 8-10 hours and it'd be easy for men, but for women... 😬

Need to replace heat shield?

Post image

Hi all! My drivers side heat shield was rattling like crazy at 2000rpm and I inspected and found it nearly completely rotted off so removed it. Do I need to replace it or do we think it’s fine to leave alone? I rarely drive long distances.

Jeep stalling out

Hii so I have a jeep wrangler and today while i was driving the blueridge parkway, it just stalled out ? I turned it off and on after 5 minutes and went downhill because it couldn’t handle uphill anymore and it stalled out a couple more times! It drove okay after waiting another 15 minutes but was jerking a little on the drive home and stalled out one more time, mostly if it’s any sort of hill! Any idea what the issue could be ?
