Why do Republicans seem to be allergic to FACTS?...something to think about before you vote

u/the_real_Beavis999 Mar 05 '25

Facts make brain think, brain hurt now. Brain need coke or meth...

Because when Trump coined the term “fake news”, this gave them the opportunity to brand any fact they don’t agree with as “liberal lies”. They believe it’s their “I win” button.

And you know what... they're right. It is a winning button that gets them elected repeatedly and helps control the narrative.

Facts don't matter if the people don't believe them.

In their defense, it's working. Geobbel was on to something.

2

u/RobotDeathSquad Mar 06 '25

Fun fact: Hillary Clinton said "fake news" first and Trump stole it from her.

1

u/KnittinSittinCatMama Mar 06 '25

That must be one of the many facts my brain forgot to ctrl-s on! But it figures he'd steal it. 🤦🏻‍♀️

u/justheretodoplace Mar 06 '25

I’m fairly sure “fake news” goes further back than the both of them.

1

u/cbessette Mar 06 '25

Lügenpresse. "Lying Press" WWII Germany.

1

u/-Gestalt- Mar 06 '25

Neither of them coined the phrase.

The term ‘fake news’ wasn’t termed by Trump so much as misappropriated by him to refer to any negative press rather than misinformation. Prior to the 2016 US presidential election, it was used to describe the misinformation and disinformation factories that originated in the Balkans. But the term goes further back to the late nineteenth century to describe sensationalism in newspapers.

Facts generally sully their perspective on the world.

The "facts dont care about your feelings" crowd seems to care about neither facts nor feelings

u/Far-Investigator1265 Mar 05 '25

They have developed their own fantasy land which they are now trying to make real. Facts disagree with their fantasies, so they invent alternate "facts" to replace them.

And yes, there is a real danger that they will succeed. After that, nothing is real and reality can be changed at moments notice when it suits the powers at be.

Can’t have the sheep thinking for themselves.

Facts are WOKE!

2

u/sec713 Mar 06 '25

Facts expose their lies.

2

u/acepukas Mar 06 '25

They only like the truth when it aligns with their agenda. At any other time the truth is a threat. In general, the truth lies outside of their control.

2

u/Striking-Ad1886 Mar 06 '25

Dunning Kruger effect in full swing

2

u/One-Inch-Punch Mar 06 '25

They're not allergic to facts. They're allergic to truth.

2

u/engineereddiscontent Mar 06 '25

Because if you start accepting facts then it's a slippery cognitive slope that leads to acknowledging things that you did wrong in court.

And since the actual mechanism by which the right-of-center parties seems to run things is do illegal stuff then justify it in court...if you utilize those facts you're now not just looking dumb but looking dumb and doing illegal stuff.

1

u/Trick-Doctor-208 Mar 05 '25

Them there facts will make you one of them transvestite marxist queers or something, don’t you know nothin? Also, actually thinking bout stuff is hard so it’s easy just to watch that Tucker Carlson fella, you can pretty much take his word like it’s gospel, praise Jesus. That’s how I know about all them transvestite marxist queers runnin around in them new age bionic jogging suits.

As a republican, I voted for Hilary, Joe, and Kamala. I want facts.

Whatever party I joined long ago is nothing I expected. I treat politics like my T shirts. I prefer blue but will gladly wear red, green, yellow shirts, etc. A blue shirt doesn’t define me. It’s just a shirt like my politics. I follow in the ways of Canadians and Europeans. America? Live and die by the party? Nah, bruh.

I don’t think it’s just republicans. I think it’s anyone in any type of position of governmental authority. It’s hard to go through life with staining your hands with something. It depends on severity and it depends on how others can spin it.

7

u/DesertRat31 Mar 05 '25

No, it's pretty much just republicans

-2

u/gnomekingdom Mar 05 '25

“I did not have sexual relations with that woman” comes to mind. Just saying. That kind of chicanery is bipartisan. It’s everywhere.

2

u/SpezDrinksHorseCum Mar 05 '25

Every single person who says that "both sides are the same" votes for Republicans in every single election. There are zero exceptions to this hard and fast rule. "Both sides are the same" is just a mechanism used by morons to justify ignorant voting decisions.

1

u/Nayre_Trawe Mar 05 '25

...and yet, you had to go back 27 years to find an example, and it's not even relevant to what's being discussed to begin with.

0

u/gnomekingdom Mar 05 '25

Trust me, I’m not sticking up for anybody. Lol. But to infer that one side is better than another when it comes to hedging inconsistencies, let’s call them….isnt close to the environment or is narrow sighted. But since you want current events, let’s chat about how both sides participate in obvious insider trading to benefit themselves (*cough-Pelsosi!) when they’ve locked up folks for years for such shenanigans.

1

u/Nayre_Trawe Mar 05 '25

Trust me, I’m not sticking up for anybody.

When did I say you were? You seem confused.

But to infer that one side is better than another when it comes to hedging inconsistencies, let’s call them….isnt close to the environment or is narrow sighted.

Yet, again, the best you could come up with is something from 27 years ago, and people didn't even believe him to begin with. He went on to admit the truth and he was even impeached.

It’s everywhere.

Remember that? Again, then it shouldn't have been hard to come up with a massive lie in which the entire Democrat party is stuck in a collective delusional state, which is something that the Trump / MAGA cult puts on display each and every day, hot and fresh.

0

u/gnomekingdom Mar 05 '25

I get it. Hot, steamy, and fresh daily! I’m just saying the swamp is full of all kinds of toads but we don’t see them all because the waters always murky and dirty.

1

u/Nayre_Trawe Mar 05 '25

...which is a far cry from where your argument started.

0

u/gnomekingdom Mar 05 '25

No. I think I’m treating everyone pretty fairly across the board here and kept to the line. Hard to go through life without stained hands. Some more severe than others. Toads everywhere in the swamp. Some fatter than others.
