She is watching out for land sharks or greebles. Must protect the can opener!

Is her tail floating on the water?

Yes indeed.

Cats and their tails have an…unusual relationship. They don’t seem to see them as really connected, somehow. I had a cat who would swish his tail in the bathwater, then get confused and mad at ME that the thing was wet afterwards.

It’s also why they chase and bite their tail / they’re hunting the snake that follows them around from behind.

I love that my cat still does that! The other day what I thought wouldn’t happen again happened: She got her claw stuck in the tail during the chase and screamed bloody murder. I was in the bathroom and when I realized it was her I stuck my head out going: Wtaf?! ”- She got her claw stuck in her tail! - …AGAIN?!”

The best thing about her chasing her tail (apart from the lovely little jumps, noices, tumbles and chasing it around in a little circle for several turns in a row) is that she can take a break and I can kind of look at it and go: That mf is behind you! and she looks like she realises that Omg she’s right, I must show it who’s the boss IMMEDIATELY! and the chase starts back up. That darn tail… it’s audacity has no end!

Chatterbox and I had a whole routine where she'd sit on the bathtub ledge with her tail in the water while I was reading in the tub, and when I drained the tub and she realized her tail was wet, she'd sprint in circles after it while I dried off and got dressed. Had to be careful because she was so fixated on catching her tail that she could run right into my leg, and going full tilt that kinda hurt!!

All of my cats have their little nicknames plus a real name, but Chatter was a stray so she got the nickname first and never did get a real name. :-)

It's okay, she obviously has her pspspspsonar deployed.

She is just making sure that the outside world isn't a threat.

The temperature checking tail is a nice touch.

female orange kitties are rare! and yours is so lovely, such a beautiful profile! I had an orange girl, she would follow me everywhere, and stand guard too, she was so loyal and full of love. I love that your baby doesn't mind the sides of the tub are narrow, or her tail is wet, she is just content in the presence of her human😭😭❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️best lifeguard

I got so distracted by the skull tattoo I love it! It reminds me of my stepmother in law who is obsessed with hello kitty, has a hello kitty tattoo, house full of hello kitty stuff. If she and father in law choose to live with us in the future (gonna offer after they hit retirement), it's gonna be a fun challenge figuring out how to display all her cute stuff.

She's doing such a good job, testing the waters AND keeping an eye on the door!

Her tail is a thermometer to keep track of the temperature of the water

Even has her tail in the water to make sure the temperature is perfect
