It would have broken down in Shaftesbury Avenue...

If it doesn’t die from moisture in the ignition system, it’ll soon overheat…

Two seats, one for the driver, the other for the mechanic.

My friend had an MGB in the 80's and when he passed another one they would peep the horn and wave. Bless their little cotton socks.

That looks more '60s than '70s, though.

Looking at other photos, that Ferrero Mon Cheri ad went up some time in 1969 and was removed in 73 or 74. The Wrigleys ad was changed by 71, but the Daily Express ad had disappeared by 1970. So, based on those, this is either 69 or 70.

They always look cool as fuck, but Christ they’re objectively awful the moment you’re in one.

Aside, wish I’d have been able to see the place back in the day.

The woman I worked for in the 1970s at my saturday job had an F reg one given. It had been parked on a drive for a few years unused. The top leaked like a sieve and it wouldn't start if slightly wet. Bit of a bugger as we lived at the seaside and you could almost watch it rusting away. I remember she paid £5 for a new wing mirror after hitting the garage wall and scrapped it a few months later when it was 95% rust and got £7 for it...

I did. Great cars if you're mechanically inclined. I knew the underneath as well as the inside.

They were a lousy car, but a guaranteed babe magnet.

Every time I would be at the point of pushing my MG over a cliff, some cute young thing would come up to me and gush, “oooh I just love your car” …and I’d pour another £500 into it.

Well long term slightly less expensive than prostitutes.

That car last changed hands in May 1988 (aged 21) and at that time it was red. They didn’t tax (or MOT?) it in November that year.

Must have given up.

It's just car-shaped rust in some old bastard's garage where he was going to "fix it up".

E reg would be… 1968? Could be any time after then.

1969 or possibly 1970, comparing the ad hoardings with other dated pics.
