No machine guarding, no light curtains, no e-stop. Just dudes living in the moment.

One wrong move and your arm is being cut open

“Let me help you push this into those spinning metal blades!”

10

u/butterytelevision 29d ago

one of them reached out and touched the blade after it stopped!

At least they are wearing their safety sandals, er... slip-on sneakers. 🤦

My first thought was how easy it would be to put a shield up in front of the cutters, but they would probably reach around it to get the cable started. It would make it even more dangerous. The only way to make this safer would be to design an infeed system to keep human hands away, and that isn't going to happen.

Seriously. They could at least tack a piece of scrap metal on there to help you bounce off if you happen to fuck up lol. Crazy dudes.

the same could be said about holding a pair of scissors or an opened can of beans lol

12

u/UrethralExplorer 29d ago

Show me an open can of beans that is powered by a geared hydraulic motor and can rip your arm off.

everyone downvoting without actually reading the comment i replied to lol he just said cut open and i was just making a point a lot of things could cut you… like walking into a room of a bunch of children doing arts and crafts with that thick cardboard paper, one runs by you and boom paper cut- no arms

u/UrethralExplorer 29d ago

I didn't downvotes you, but it's like comparing a scratch from a housecat to a mauling from a tiger. I think that's where most people are coming from.

I love that you’re doubling down.

16

u/donnie955 29d ago

I can’t wait till OSHA is eliminated here in the states so we can have fun machines like that again at work.

6

u/DarkFather24601 29d ago

This feels like watching those animated safety videos where someone’s innie gets turned into an outie without consent by a spinning wheel.

5

u/EffingBarbas 28d ago

"Hey, does anyone know why our internet is out?"

6

u/xDragonetti 29d ago

That looks like some expensive wire.

But remember. The most expensive wire is always the wire cut too short! 😂
