An axe without weight isnā€™t a good tool.

179

u/MileHighManBearPig 10d ago

Also not damper effect. The reverb will go right into your hand.

36

u/Bat-Honest 10d ago

Did someone summon the r/GuitarCirclejerk gods by mentioning reverb or tone?

18

u/LordApocalyptica 10d ago

*toan

12

u/Bat-Honest 10d ago

You passed the test, fellow jerker. You will now be sent a complimentary Tim Henson waifu body pillow

4

u/Alarming_Airport_613 10d ago

what is this, a crossover episode?

2

u/Bat-Honest 9d ago

Oh, Mr. Peanutbutter!

2

u/mecengdvr 9d ago

All the tone is in the middle of the axeā€¦everyone knows that.

1

u/ajtreee 9d ago

pinched in between the handle with the right strike and ouch.

52

u/Armybob112 10d ago

Also rebar isnā€™t exactly the best kind of metal.

6

u/A-Feral-Idiot 10d ago

My first thought was if this thing gets even kind of dull itā€™ll be useless.

9

u/Armybob112 10d ago

The good news is itā€™s cheap enough so you can carelessly grind away, the bad news is you will need to do so regularly.

1

u/escape_fantasist 10d ago

I thought it was cool until I saw the comment šŸ˜

1

u/RepulsiveCow8626 9d ago

Its working though.

And an axe with too much weight is a liability. Gotta have the right size for the job, babyšŸ˜˜

447

u/Ligoneese 10d ago

Thatā€™s not a machine you clown

169

u/jeffersonairmattress 10d ago

It is a sort of blood blister making machine.

45

u/BobDoleStillKickin 10d ago

That was my immediate thought, "I don't think I'd want to swing that more than 10 times" lol

29

u/_Choose_Goose 10d ago

And it would vibrate like hell if he hits something really solid. Ouch

10

u/Moondoobious Be Respectful 10d ago

Wrap some leather cord around and itā€™sā€¦a little better idk.

4

u/13curseyoukhan 10d ago

You're right, but I still want one because looks.

1

u/Technical_Thought443 10d ago

YoU gOt sOfT hAnDs bRoThEr! /s

9

u/Sezu1701 10d ago

Need to wrap some leather around the handle so as not to tear your hand apart.

3

u/btp99 10d ago

Some nice electrical tape would do the trick I think.

4

u/mwdeuce 10d ago

lmfao

1

u/2kewl4scool 10d ago

ā€œI call it grandpaā€™s wrist axe, because itā€™ll give you arthritis 30 years earlyā€

10

u/wooden_chair_farts 10d ago

The axe is an example of a simple machine, as it is a type of wedge, or dual inclined plane. This reduces the effort needed by the wood chopper. It splits the wood into two parts by the pressure concentration at the blade

2

u/Jo_Beex 10d ago

Even google Ai agrees but I still want to say itā€™s a compound tool - dual inclined planes and a lever. But Iā€™m not sure how to draw the line at a machine

4

u/wthulhu 10d ago

Actually it is! It's classified as a wedge, which is an example of a simple machine.

5

u/Big_Monkey_77 10d ago

Well, technically, a wedge is a simple machine.

20

u/Voxlings 10d ago

Time to review the definition of "Simple Machine," bozo.

I count two wedges and a lever.

Definition of Simple Machine is: "a mechanical device that changes the direction or magnitude of force."

Can you watch the video again if you're also applying your clown make-up?

5

u/ihateyouguys 10d ago

Whatā€™s the second wedge?

7

u/Ligoneese 10d ago

Only thing simple is getting into your momā€™s pants

1

u/Nruggia 9d ago

The hard part is getting out of his mom's pants

2

u/probablyaythrowaway 10d ago

Technically it is.

But not the type we want to see MOAR POWER!!!!

3

u/J9Dougherty 10d ago

Well, machine means a device that transmits or directs force. This transmits force created by the users arms, and directs it down through the wood. I'd say that is indeed a machine.

-2

u/illzkla 10d ago

That's not the definition of a machine. Just look it up and post what the definition is instead of making one up.

A machine is a device with multiple parts. You can't just skip the important point in the definition

6

u/Timsmomshardsalami 10d ago

It has a handle and a blade

1

u/illzkla 10d ago

o u rite my b

1

u/Confident-Balance-45 10d ago

Unless you count a human ass one. šŸ¤·šŸ¼

1

u/HotCreamDispenser 10d ago

idk kind of looks like one of these to me simple machines

1

u/ooOmegAaa 9d ago

ā˜šŸ¤“ Um, akchually ..

1

u/caucafinousvehicle 9d ago

A simple machine is a machine. This is 2 simple machines (awedge and a lever).

1

u/Correct-Junket-1346 10d ago

NANOMACHINES SON

1

u/ohneatstuffthanks 10d ago

Humans are kinda technically meat mechs so like itā€™s a stretch but..

75

u/lordofduct 10d ago

There's a good reason he's only cutting a little tiny piece of wood with that. Hooo boy, that bad boy must feel wild to strike something of substance with as it vibrates wildly in your hand. That's gotta be like swinging a tuning fork at a wall. All I can see in my head is a looney tunes character buzzing and vibrating on screen from some physical comedy gag.

5

u/thelocker517 9d ago

And that is the driest wood with the straightest grain. He could pull it apart by hand if he gave it a real try.

81

u/LeGouzy 10d ago

I was fearing the springy structure would bounce back and spike him in the head.

Looks cool, but not safe.

10

u/MrStoneV 10d ago

Athrites or however its written is gonna hit hard with something like that. There is a reason why most axes have wood

5

u/jpubberry430 10d ago

Ah yes Athrites, friend of Archimedes and Socrates

3

u/Tranceported 10d ago

He can shoot in head with the pointy thing any day while trying to release stuck axe or something can go wrong. Not at all safe.

46

u/Long_Measurement_427 10d ago

Wait until his skin gets stuck between the two bars of the handleā€¦

15

u/jeffersonairmattress 10d ago

Ever got four blood blisters at once?

11

u/B1g_Gru3s0m3 10d ago

I should call her

27

u/KarmaTorpid 10d ago

All metal? That's going to hurt to use.

4

u/Armybob112 10d ago

Thatā€™s honestly the smallest problem i see here.

2

u/NigilQuid 10d ago

There's some YouTube maker who put an axe head on an aluminum haft and he said there was surprisingly little vibration

6

u/X3nox3s 10d ago

A DIY axe thatā€˜s worse than a brought oneā€¦

6

u/kveggie1 10d ago

Where is the machine? Expecting the dude to crack his skull with the pointy end.

8

u/Roll-Roll-Roll 10d ago

Cherry-picking the wood he's cutting. Not enough wedge in that axe for splitting.

5

u/Puzzleheaded_Ad_4435 10d ago

Cool looking? Absolutely. Useful? Not really. Spring in a chopping tool is dangerous to the user. Axes are designed to use their weight to dig into whatever you're chopping. This design removes most of the weight. Rebar is not good metal for holding an edge. Not enough carbon. The handle looks very uncomfortable even without the risk of pinching, but there's definitely risk of pinching.

I would never use this unless I had zero other options, but I would definitely stick it up as a wallhanger because imo it looks cool.

7

u/ZweiGuy99 10d ago

I don't think that steel will hold a good edge.

3

u/paulwalker659 9d ago edited 9d ago

So many things are wrong here. Not a machine. Absolutely no point in holding the wood with your hand other than to potentially mame yourself. Absolutely no point in a sharp spike on this axe other than to potentially mame or kill yourself. Not in any way better than a real woodcutting axe. No genius here at all.

2

u/E23R0 10d ago

I pinched my hand watching this

2

u/LarsVonHammerstein2 10d ago

At least you didnā€™t miss-swing and chop your thumb off. Only a matter of time with this technique.

1

u/Express-Magician-419 9d ago

My left hand started getting ghost pains watching him hold that wood.

2

u/y0st 10d ago

Instant blisters

2

u/Thetheangelsangels_ 10d ago

Now chop some hardwood pieces with it.

2

u/MaiseyMac 10d ago

Yes. That hasnā€™t been dried.

2

u/Alone-Amphibian2434 10d ago

it only cuts large cucumbers sorry

2

u/Ambitious-Narwhal661 10d ago

Put some rubber between the bars in the handle and then wrap it in rope & then leather.

2

u/Carpentry95 10d ago

An axe from Harbor Freight will do you better than this

2

u/DanBentley 10d ago

Canā€™t imagine the reverberation this would have. Itā€™s like the bastard child of an axe and a tuning fork

2

u/Choco_Cat777 10d ago

Rebar is too soft to be an axe

2

u/smokerist 10d ago

Sure it works on dry wood, no knots. But a solid axe head has more weight to throw when you have those stubborn logs.

2

u/FluxOperation 9d ago

That edge wonā€™t last 10 cuts. Not hardenable metal.

2

u/wonder_bear 8d ago

Ma hands! Screw that man

4

u/Kasaikemono 10d ago

There's nothing genius about that. The axe has no weight behind it. The used rod is way too flexible, bearing the possibility of springing back when it can't cut properly into the wood. The handle is a pinch risk. And, while just a minor thing compared to the others, it's not ergonomical. Working with that thing is not comfortable at all, which is what you want when seriously chopping wood.

This is maybe a funny novelty item to hang on your wall, but nothing more.

1

u/nothingspecifical1 10d ago

I miss those commercials!!!

1

u/Savage_Adversary 10d ago

That recoil's gotta be nerve melting. Sheesh

1

u/Lawfull_carrot 10d ago

Yea genius, an axe that you need to slam down instead of gravity doing the work!

1

u/SugoiBakaMatt 10d ago

Idk what everyone in the comments is on about, this axe is great for splitting, especially with how he is using it. Splitting the skin on his right hand, and splitting his fingers on the left.

1

u/Off-Da-Ricta 10d ago

For splitting tinder I like it.

1

u/GraceFromWithin 10d ago

Move your hand, move your hand, MOVE YOUR HAND!!

1

u/l0udninja 10d ago

God I miss those commercials.

1

u/satori0320 10d ago

And... It's just reinventing the wheel.

Axes have been a thing for hundreds of thousands of years, if you count the stone axes.

1

u/gch2010 10d ago

Boi-oi-oi-oi-oi-oing!!! Nasty vibration I imagine.

1

u/Dragon3076 10d ago

I mean, if it works?

1

u/Old-Revolution-9650 10d ago

I was waiting for his thumb to be removed.

1

u/Alarmed_Crazy_9359 10d ago

An inclined plane is considered a machine. Which would make a knife edge a machine.

1

u/BadmanJethro 10d ago

I'm more worried about the back.

1

u/Confident-Original13 10d ago

I was expecting the theme to "Real Men of Genius" but heard a different song and found no genius here

1

u/Me_ina_pink_skirt 10d ago

What a piece of shit

1

u/BallisticThundr 10d ago

OP really thought he cooked with this post. There's so many issues with that axe but on top of it all, it's not even a machine

1

u/DaddyJ90 10d ago

The reverberations of this thing gave me a headache

1

u/huh_say_what_now_ 9d ago

Try chopping some real wood not that stuff that will break in half if you throw it on the ground

1

u/Just-User987 9d ago

when it catches your hanf between 2 handle bars...

1

u/C0matoes 9d ago

pinched hand incoming.

1

u/1OOO 9d ago

Kratos ordered two of these!

1

u/Wrhythm26 9d ago

Isn't rebar mild steel?

1

u/Alternative_News6758 9d ago

Why not chop the big log then?

1

u/060206072837778 8d ago

That grip can still be better.
