Advice What do I do?
It’s occurred to me this looks bland and boring. I guess I need curtains and a rug? Probably pillows and a throw? Dog off the couch? Any suggestions appreciated.

I feel like you could use a few safes to really spruce up the corners.

A few safes and obey posters?

Build a custom woodworked box to hide one of the safes. Then a floor lamp to spruce up the other one

And then get another, bigger safe to put right next to the box that's hiding the smaller safe.

But for real I love your bauhaus posters! Very minimalist chic

Thank you! I love them

Center them though, vertically, in the space between the top of the couch and the cieling. You'll need math for this. Or eyeball it. But move them down a bit.

Maybe try a fourth picture, reduce the space between them. Should be centered vertically and horizontally with the couch.

Two small things that will make a huge difference - change out those blinds for some fabric curtains (hang them higher than the windows and make sure they reach the floor!) and get yourself a shit tonne of plants lol

Okay thanks! I’m heading out to go max out my credit card right now!

I would keep the blinds, but add the curtains over them. Curtains alone don't give you as much privacy as you get with the blinds too. You can also control your sunlight better.

The curtains need to be half way between the ceiling and top of window and need to hang 1' beyond the window on either side.
Probably safe to get a long pole and 3 sections. One on either end and one in the middle.

Lower the posters behind the couch. Get wooden end tables that don’t look plastic-y. Get some nice table and floor lamps.

Floor lamp. Pull couch away from wall a bit and farther from window. Curtain (high rods) vs blinds. Round wood coffee table to soften all the 90 degree angles. Add a bit of color with a few accent pillows. Add 1 or 2 plants. Bingo bango

Curtains, candles, a rug, pillows, add some extra lighting, cushions. Honestly they’re just the basic extras but it looks good already.
Edited for spelling

Curtains, hung higher than the window and touching the floor. Throw pillows, throw blankets. An accent wall of color or wallpaper would be great, too.

Sectional looks smashed up against the wall, pull it out from the wall and yes, a few pillows that pull out the colors from your wall Art maybe a throw blanket in burnt orange. A tall black shelf unit on right of couch and lose that one small table. Add lights to the shelf.

Break up the space by rotating the couch so the back is to the dining table, then set the coffee table and two chair across from it. Make it two distinct rooms.

I'm also much more farmhouse, so if it were me, I'd get a big chunky white/wood coffee table with matching end tables. I think the 3 you have are too small for the space and the couch. The couch is fine but I would definitely design around it to brighten up the space and make it feel warmer.

An area rug, some yellow pillows to match the wall art, a tall interesting lamp to draw the eye when there's so much space between the top of the couch and the ceiling and no other tall furniture.

Get rid of the terrible mini Blinds. Add some books and plants and flowers and art

Get a bookshelf or 2, and some plants that can drape down, something like a pothos, that you can wrap around as they grow. Check out a used bookstore, and grab some of your favorites to fill out the shelves, use smaller potted plant ya as bookends. Include a framed photo or 2! You have a really strong start to a welcoming space!

Move the sectional away from walls - put it more middle of room so that you can walk behind it

Pull your couch out from the windows and the other wall. You need a couple of end tables and lamps. Bring the pictures down a little and bring them a bit closer together. As you said curtains and some pillows and a throw would help to pull it all together.

Wood colored end tables and coffee table, a darkish wood, no black. Lower art, it’s too high. Could do curtains of some accent color but I’m personally not a fan. Plants, many plants.

Definitely a couple light colored pillows and a white/cream throw, some light flowy drapes (gusset), a thin table runner, and like a 5x7 rug under the coffee table, maybe another under the dining room table. Get some nice decorative candles and books for the tables.

Sounds like you have an idea of where to start, but also no kicking the dog off the couch!
Blankets throw pillows and curtains will go a long way to help. I also suggest some soft light sources like some fun decorative lamps or string lights.
