Not a fan of the cinder blocks

For the tv stand, consider a black steel frame and reclaimed wood bookcase. It has an industrial feel but is finished.

This will probably happen.

Etsy has black steel frames without wood. I was thinking of getting one myself.

I think this is a solid start. Take your time to decide what else to add or change. Live in the space for a bit. (I agree with the console baskets suggestion)

Baskets or something under the TV stand to hide the cords/add storage

Thank you! This TV stand was a huge gamble for me to begin with. I think baskets would help a lot!

TV stand will look better if you turn the cinder blocks to show off the holes

100%, I feel like that's the whole reason people do the cinder block stuff. This kind of halfway thing just looks off imo

Just knowing how clumsy I am, I would definitely knock over one of your speakers if ever invited here. So maybe clumsy-proof those if you like having guests over? Otherwise looks nice

They're actually pretty stout! They are "spiked" to the floor, and are made of MDF and filled with sand for damping. My dog bumps into them occasionally and they don't move.

Of course, they will still tip over with enough effort/clumsiness.

Some lamps and ambient lighting would go crazy, like a nice hangover lamp to the left of your couch. 🛋️

I just did this and it turned out so great, thank you!

Looks good, the wall art behind the TV is too low though and kind of clashes with the guitars. I would consider something different to hang there

I had a feeling that those art pieces needed to go. Thanks!

The art pieces are ok, not great, but the thing that's driving me apeshit is how one set is centered and the other isn't. It makes me insane-er.

I was thinking the same. They aren’t bad, but once I saw the opposite wall, I just felt like they didn’t flow with the overall look. Maybe some old album covers or old concert tour posters would be dope since you have the guitars hanging 😍😍

Looks good to me. Not sure about a grey rug on another rug though.

Yeah it's weird to me too. I just hate the carpet and can't change it... I'm trying my best, lol

Where is the fishing rods? Time to level up

If you are going to keep the tv stand, stain it darker.

Replace the table with a cable spool.

Nice to see a proper av receiver, but your center channel is wee and too low. Should be same height as left and right speakers and ear height. No subwoofer?

I feel you could push left and right channels back a foot with no sound stage issues

2

u/No_Limit_329 1d ago

Subwoofer is on the way, and still figuring out a decent center channel situation--likely going custom made. The sub will be tucked behind the left channel, which is why they are out so far. I've already measured for the cabinet size.

Looks good. The TV stand isn’t for everyone but I think it looks stylish - like unique reclaimed style furniture, so I gotta disagree with the comments saying to paint it or restain. Would look horrible. Looks good as-is.

I’d just find a different way to set up surround sound, because the pedestals feel awkward and “in the way.”

I agree that a rug on top of carpet looks weird.

And the lower wall art should be a few inches higher to make more of a separation between it and the TV

Wow! I adore your space and your style. The concrete blocks… genuis! Your place looks fantastic! The map and how it is hung, the floating shelves, the wall sconce and the cord draping down, the speakers, the guitars, the floor to ceiling drapes (love that middle drape) and you have sheers ♥️. Looks so inviting and chill. Maybe stain the wood under the TV and invest in another side table to the left of the sofa for guests and find a lamp. An extra light source would be a good investment in that amazing room. I wish I could drop in and listen to Queen with that sound system you have.

Thank you! I've actually listened to Queen's Greatest Hits album, mastered in Dolby Atmos surround sound and it's wonderful!

Everything looks good, except that monster of a tv unit. wtf bro? You got an awesome couch and you got some cheap ass DIY unit? Just swap it out for something good and you’ll be proud to bring any girl over.

I would also put a plant on the side of the tv to bring some green, like a large one and maybe look to change those big dark blue curtains.

But yeah, it’s that tv unit. Get a nice rustic wooden unit that makes it all look good and green foliage of leaves via a massive plant. Done

lol, I actually still have my "proper" TV stand. Made this one to try something bold and wild. The drapes are actually dark green! Thank you so much for your feedback.

“Bold and wild” Yeah it’s wild alright 😂

Great start! Definitely needs pillows (2 is fine) and a blanket. Move over the table with the speaker (a wall mount would be ideal) and add in a decent sized end table for drinks/snacks/books/odds and ends. Really love the coffee table, eventually you'll want to level up the entertainment center to something more polished that goes with your furniture

1

u/No_Limit_329 18h ago

Thank you so much! I picked up a blanket and two throw pillows and it definitely helped.

A new TV stand is likely in the works too! Sometimes the bold choice isn't the best choice.

Not sure what's on the other side of this spot, but I think if you can, get a smaller chair or two to sit on the line of the carpet. It'll section off the space, make it more conversational.

Are you the cinder-block-night-stand-guy?

1

u/No_Limit_329 18h ago

Milk crates or bust!

2

u/ThompsonReyes 20h ago

I like it, if it was mine I woudn't add much but maybe get or make something with wheels for the tv and lift the cables off the floor.

2

u/No_Limit_329 18h ago

Funny you say this, I'm actually considering a TV stand with casters...

2

u/HalosDux 1d ago

Looks good, I’d paint the cinder blocks and plywood.

Guessing you are a college student as concrete blocks and boards are and were the mainstay of wall units but definitely get a different coffee table as that table is an end table

u/Mundane-Hotel2894 22h ago

Instead of cinder blocks, consider a couple of safes as the base for the TV stand.

u/SicilianShelving 19h ago

Really cool space man. But I think you might want a bigger rug. It would make the space feel less empty, and having less of the carpet showing might help with the "rug on top of a rug" look.

1

u/No_Limit_329 18h ago

Do you think an 8' x 10' rug would still look off on top of the other one? I’d hate to buy a nice rug only for it not to feel right.

The cinder blocks look good! I'm with it.

Put the covers back on your speakers.

2

u/No_Limit_329 18h ago

I like the juxtaposition of the carbon fiber with other materials in the room!

Unless it's reference quality audiophile shit. It's better to make them disappear.
