He 100% will. It will be such a close call probably some hijinks getting him to the airport where he last minute invites Kate to join, but when the kids wake up Christmas morning he will be there. Maybe fake out like they expect him in the living room & get sad for a moment but then he will be in the kitchen making breakfast for everyone. But he will be there, the hero always makes it home for Christmas and that’s a rule that shouldn’t be changed.
→ More replies (40)253
u/Abidingshadow Dec 01 '21
My theory was that he wouldn't make it home for Christmas, and that the guilt he feels from that combined with the potential he sees in Kate will result in him passing the torch onto her permanently so he can commit himself to his family for good. I'd be happy either way it ends though, really digging the show so far.

Anyone think there’s a parallel between Maya and Kate. Both girls trained to fight who lost their father figure. When Kate lost her dad it was day time, and she saw Clint outside risking his life to save people without a mask and admires him. When Maya lost her father figure, it was night time and it was Clint who killed him and she saw him fleeing but he was wearing a mask and she hates him. One knows the face of the one they admire, the other doesn’t know the face of the one they hate. She could be blinded by rage. Might be reaching.

Yeah they were both inspired to be what they become by Clint, first Kate by seeing him at his best and then Maya seeing him at his worst.

I am deaf, I like how they portrayed deafness and ASL in this episode. Maya saying Clint’s better off without his hearing aid and stomping on it wasn’t a villancicos “haha I’m gonna stomp on your hearing aid to inconvenience you so you can’t talk to your son in the phone and you can’t hear what anyone is saying all day muhahaha” kind of thing. That’s a deaf culture thing. Deep in the deaf community, they have this weird thing about shunning hearing aids or cochlear implants, they want each other to be in their own private community of deaf people. They view deafness as something that doesn’t need to be fixed, they embrace it. Personally, I don’t agree with it. I was late deafened at 16, I’d do freaking anything to be hearing again. Being deaf is inconvenient as crap. I just found it very interesting they put it in the show like that.

As a deaf person, I love what Kate was doing because I just lost my cochlear implant last week so my family and friends are having to write words down whenever we talk to each other until my new cochlear implant get here. My parents have been using the same big black marker with huge Post-its that we have in the kitchen, almost exactly like that scene with Clint's phone call.
I also just started dating a girl and she said we can still go out for our second date even if we're "the weird couple who are on our phones the whole time" while texting each other to communicate during the date.

Was honestly surprised to see how violent the Ronin sequence was. It's good to know that they will be able to handle the tone for all the other street heroes.

Such a clever way to guilt trip Kate for the predicament she put Clint in. Her actions are preventing Ugly Sweater Night!

So I was thinking, fellas I'm just speculating, my brethren I am merely spitballing here
If Kate wants Hawkeye to connect more with the people, to open his heart to them, is she gonna suggest the Clint Barton Fan App

These past three episodes have really made me appreciate Renner as Clint. He absolutely nailed the scenes where he's without his hearing aid, especially the phone call with his son.
He really does capture the idea that we're watching the most human of the Avengers, a normal guy without powers or a suit of armor, dealing with trauma and severe guilt/self-hatred.
