The thing I find interesting is the argument "wages haven't increased". Like, isn't that between you and your boss? What does Nintendo have to do with your wages?
Gaming companies make more money now than ever before because sales have increased a lot and there are other ways to monetize the game like DLCs and microtransactions. Why do you people act like Nintendo is on the brink of bankruptcy and they have no choice but to increase prices?
That’s not even remotely what I said. Why do you have to lie about what I said if you think you have a real argument? Seriously, grow up dude. I said the cost of game development went up because wages went up as a counter to the argument that wages have stayed the same, and it’s true when you look at how much it costs to make a game now. I never said anything about what Nintendo should be charging for games or a handheld I have no intention of buying any time soon. I’ll stick to my Steam Deck. It can’t output a game in 4K when docked but I can get amazing games for $5-10.
Well, it should concern you because if we don't stand up to this BS soon every game will cost $80. So even if you buy only on sales, those prices will go up too.
Wages absolutely haven't kept up with productivity etc. but when you over the past 40 years the inflation adjusted median income has gone up about 35% over that time (there have been 4 times in those years where inflation adjusted wages fell a bit, and you can probably guess some of those times without looking it up).
So wages except for those at the very bottom are outpacing inflation while gaming as a hobby isn't keeping up.
