I don't get it, work rant

The set up: So I work at a small retail establishment. We got a truck in and we do things kinda low tech. Which is fine, but can be a little tedious. We have a list of every product that come on the truck, we have to go through every box and individually check off and confirm each item is on then list and the quantity.
There is no system set up for this. I prefer working in a system as a team. It tends to be most efficient. We have one list to work off of. So to me each of us taking one item, marking it off the list then wandering around to put it up when half the store isn't labeled/organized(because we are in a temporary location and had been having staffing issues). But this could lead to a lot of waisted time, waiting for one person to search for number on a list that's only partially organized. While we already have to spend plenty of time hunting for where to put the item.

The Mildly Annoying part: I asked my co worker, how he prefers to do the truck process..since the company doesn't really have one, and I'm flexible I'll do it however. They said don't have one. Cool, np. So I offered one up. Why don't we have one person marking things off and the other putting them out. And asked which they would prefer to do? They said they didn't care. So I chose to mark things off, I enjoy doing it..I think I'm relatively quick at it(and when the box is finished being marked off I can help put it out if needed) Their response..oh so you choose the easy one. . Umm... excuse me? One that's relative, some people hate numbers and lists..and I offered you the option to choose first. And you didn't choose.
