the bumper extends to the spaces behind him, ( however if he parked where bumper was within the front spaces his truck would stick out too far and impede the driving space in the parking lot.)
He should have parked towards the back of the lot on the end of a row, as not to block other spaces.
Or he could have parked in the space across to the right of his truck let his bumper hand out over shrub space. he could easily fit there and not impede the parking lot. He is just being a jackass parking the way he did.
Because it takes up parts of 4 parking spaces. You can't just combine the spaces lost in each parking spot into 2 parking spot worth of space. You can't park your car behind and next to the car
A normal person describing what’s happened here? Took me about five or ten seconds to figure out what they meant. The only confusing part is that they wrote it as “4 1/2 spots” instead of “four half spots”
well by occupying fractions of 4 separate spaces, those parking spaces have less room for other vehicles. sure smaller cars can fit in the spaces behind his truck but why should they have to park in a way that their vehicle sticks out of the designated space.
There used to be a time when the guys with the over sized work trucks at hotels would park at the far end of the parking lot, knowing they were taking up space and doing their best to inconvenience the least number of people.
I don't disagree, but I haven't been in any trouble yet. I look forward to doing it more in the years to come as people are becoming bigger and bigger assholes.
In this scenario tho he might be considerate if you assume the absolute best of people let’s assume he got the truck for his job and needs it and then it’s too wide for one parking spot so parking normally would take three spots not two even tho he did park way too back there so he’s prolly just an asshole but life is sunshine and rainbows when you assume the best
That's not even a big truck. It fits in one space just fine. He might not be an asshole, but this was an asshole decision he made and I feel no guilt keying it.
Truck owner would probably justify it as reventing anyone from parking close enough to ding the side if they slam open their own doors without checking for clearance, which doesn't matter because you....... still can't take up that many spaces because you feel you deserve special treatment
"Your Honor, I was merely admiring his parking job, and how he managed to take up four spots with just one car, and then I guess I slipped and my pocket knife fell out, and that's how I totally accidentally and unintentionally slashed all four of his tires... five times."
Looks to be a long car and the spots look thin so maybe he needs room to get in and out and also if he was more forward I think that’s more dangerous if he was further out in front
you can see a truck on the right of the photo that's parked squarely in the parking spot. it's either an f150 or super duty, which is definitely bigger than the truck taking up 4 spaces. this guy is a chud muffin.
The one on the right does look bigger but you can also see he is further forward maybe extending out I was thinking the parking in the middle maybe he is big guy or woman who need extra room to get in and out without harming cars who park next to them I also think most parking spots aren’t designed for the big cars
The world doesn’t revolve around you just because you CHOSE to buy a bigger than normal sized vehicle, and then complain about parking/inconvenience others.
Doesn’t matter. It’s the principle. But, I can see from your bio that you’re a conservative, which…explains your thought process a lot; being self centered and all that.
What if they got it for work and it’s too wide to the point if they parked normally they’d take three parking perhaps they’re behind considerate why are you so triggered about it
to be fair. there's a small chance that if he parked in the center of a spot it would overlap with both neighboring spots. Then it's better to just take 2 spots maybe
I have a full-size pickup, and yes ,I've come across some rather small parking spaces, but if you can't park in the lines, your truck is too big for you. The same goes for if you can't keep it in your lane.
I think you mean 2 spots and some minor overhang into 2 other spots. But yea, that's frustrating. At least there's several other spots to park. I've been in a situation where the parking lot was small and packed, and some a-hole parked like this. So I had to park down the street in another parking lot.
Honestly, this might be him trying to be considerate. Some of those really wide trucks make using a normal parking spot difficult because while they can fit they barely do, and often parking next to them puts your car at risk for either getting hit by their door if they open it or hitting their truck when you open your door. I'd rather him just take the two spots and have enough room so that if I park next to him I don't feel squished
This thread explains very nicely why the American notation "n p/q" for n+p/q is absolutely stupid. Especially since it is also commonly accepted that ab means a*b.
I miss driving old beat up cars for this reason. Looks to me like the community should really get behind this guy's avant-garde style and park using the halves of spots he so kindly left available right next to his truck.

I think he means 4 halfs, not 4 and a half
