Does anyone else get upset when people say celebrities are "queer baiting"?
I have seen a bunch of people assuming celebrities' sexualities, and essentially forcing them to put a lable on their sexual preferences and then getting mad and calling them "queer baiters" when they end up being straight.
Like Billie Eilish. Yes, she turned out to be queer, but when she identified as straight, people called her a queer baiter (or literally told her she was wrong, like wtf?), because they assumed she was gay and got mad when she said she wasn't.
And now they're doing it to Sabrina Carpenter (who has not come out publicly as anything, as far as I know, except myself and a few other people have this phantom memory of her coming out as bi) just because of "Taste". Like it's a bitter song about her ex going back to his ex, and she's going to have to deal with the knowledge that Sabrina had him too.
It's not queer baiting, if you just assume someone's sexuality and end up being wrong, right?

"Queer baiting" is something specific. It's when, in a piece of media, characters are intentionally written to act in a "queer" way (usually some sort of homoerotic subtext) specifically to entice viewers to watch under the hope/ assumption that the characters will be revealed to be queer.
A celebrity can't queer bait irl because that's not what queer baiting is.

Assuming sexuality in general is just icky to me. Like, sure if they frequently wear the flag, then that's a case where it's less so, but still weird. You don't know this person, so stop acting like you do. All people know is the persona, and it's annoying when they pretend they know more than they do
