Spotted a “Marked” police patrol car today. Real prominent imagery!

Honest question without even googling, why are police cars required to be marked, all it does is let potential law breakers or someone already breaking the law to stop quick enough to potentially get away with it. one would argue it deters people on the road but really all it does is just warn them! People would probably fear the law a lot more if they weren't able to spot a cop car as easily

if your job is to serve and protect the public, but you are hiding from the public's view, making you inaccessible to being asked for help from the public but also you're targetting anyone going 11 over the speed limit for a ticket, who are you actually serving and protecting?

Yea I was thinking like what if my car broke down in the middle of the night and while waiting for cops some random car showed up and I was like ok I guess this a cop in plain clothes?

I’ve noticed in other countries police are more visible.
They are there to serve the public.
In the United States, they are often as inconspicuous as possible. Because they are more focused on traffic violations for the sake of revenue than public service.

If someone needs help they can easily spot a marked car. Unmarked cars are dangerous for everyone.

Nowadays, whenever I see a late-model Ford sedan or SUV, I just assume it's a police car
