You should listen to case file 134 I literally just listened to this a week ago. Pretty F d up, also just assumption because he matched the description but even with an alibi, they were making sure he wouldn't get out. His lawyer did all the work to get him out.

In the end. He was free. Sued. Got a settlement. The family of the women who was murdered sued for negligence from the cops, got $1

Wait she was awarded a dollar? Was the jury trying to go to insult her?

So long story short. Martha Puebla witnessed a murder. When cops had a suspect in custody they told him MARTHA SAID IT WAS YOU. SHE EVEN CIRCLED YOUR PICTURE AND INITIALED IT. I don't think she ever said anything but that's what the cops told the suspect. Than bam she was dead.

Juan was accused. Than when released, idk when but the parents of Martha found out how the cops outed her to her killer than sued for negligence. They put the blame on the parents and awarded them $1...... Juan was awarded 300K and even said how shitty and bad he felt for the family for only getting that. The podcast case file 134 is interesting if yoy can get around to it

But why him though? Did they know each other? Was he going out with her in secret? 🤔

Juan Catalan was the guy arrested for murder. The murder victim had been a witness at the hearing of a gangster named Mario Catalan, Juan’s brother, a few days before which he had attended. He fit the facial composite a witness described so he was arrested for the murder.

So she was murdered because she was a witness? 😳🥺

Basically- but it’s a mess. She testified that she did not see the murder but then police, while trying to get a suspect to confess said they had a witness. The gang assumed it was her and then killed her because IIRC she had maybe actually seen it or had possibly seen it? You’ll have to google it for sure - I’m pulling this from memory - I recently read about it . Her name was Martha Pueblo or Puebla I think.

It's even worse! The original shooting had happened outside her house. Even though she hadn't been helpful, the police actually directly told the suspect that she had identified him. Then they didn't even inform her or her family that she was in danger. They simply did not care that they were marking a kid for death.

That’s right - I forgot that part. Fucking terrible. Just awful.
