Make sure you recycle!!
Everything goes into one giant unsorted bin. Found at Costco

Many big businesses are like this. More often than not they go in a big container at the back of the building where it all gets compacted.
At least this is an example with a single container. I’ve seen plenty of others with multiple contained and bags and they all get tossed in the same place.
Or often, the cleaning staff takes all the aluminum cans and bottles and makes money on the recycling.

There is a point until people who don't give a darn throw their stuff in the wrong slot anyways.

To make you feel like your actions do something. Instead of actually making your actions do something. Also to make the purchase of plastics not feel destructive since it will be "recyled" which it wont be.

Me thinking “what’s so bad about recycling?!?” Took way to long to see the problem🤦♂️

It's not Costco's fault. The public is generally apathetic when it comes to recycling; they see a bin to put their waste in and just throw it in paying no attention to separating their waste. When recyclables are contaminated with too much garbage, it's basically considered all garbage.

Yeah im trying to make me family understand that spending time cleaning all the cans, and sorting paper from glass etc when throwing stuff out, is insane because its all just ends up the same place anyways

I guarantee they throw it all in the garbage anyway.
I worked a couple places where they did. It's not worth to them to have a recycling program. It's performative.
