This Lastpass looks great. Now if I can only cut through the red tape and have the state go to this.

It's 1 dollar a month for personal. I sprung for it a few years back. All my passwords are 20 characters at a minimum and up to 100 if possible. I remember nothing other than my master password.

What if you want to log into one of your accounts from a device that isn't your own, eg. a library computer or a friend's laptop?

You can access your password vault through any browser if you need to. Also, I usually have my phone on me, so I grab the password from the app.

You can use Keepass for free, and it's all under your control.

Lastpass be praised. It's got an app for all devices as well, which is super because people expect me to be on standby 24/7. Sure, I'll fix your site... on my iPhone. :'(

Lastpass got hacked recently. Don't rely on any silver bullet.

Instead, have a few passwords that you use, in layers of complexity. No one expects you to use a password as complex as required for a government website for your Reddit account, but you should probably have something similarly complex for your email address (which acts as your defacto keychain today) and your bank account.

Listen to this Hacked podcast episode for more information about passwords, complexity, and vulnerability. There's a few tips at the end.
