I liked the mix from last year. Carlos Pena in small doses. Would also be fun to hear Curtis Granderson and Alex Avila.

I mean yes. I'm a big fan. But why limit ourselves? I like Petry and his wholesome perspective. I also love Dan and Scales. Mix it up. Bring in Todd Jones too, lol. And if we play the Marlins, for the love of God, let me hear an inning or two of Rod.

Agree, Petry is amazingly insightful and explains things really well. He hasn't lost a step in how he relates to the game as it's evolved over the years.

I realized on that last road trip that Petry just never stops talking. His analysis is great but just never ends. So often Jason doesn’t get to call the game.
The rapport with Andy is great, it’s light and fun, and they still call the game

Andy had a good interview on the Drew Lane podcast Wednesday night. He seems like a good dude.

They have great rapport. That's what you want from the booth. Gibson just didn't work at all. His Parkinson's causes a slow, monotone delivery. It's not his fault, but it is what it is. They just didn't flow well together. I'm OK with Petry. He's fine. But Dirks is on another level. You don't need to have legends in the booth. You just need complimentary people who play off each other well and keep the conversation informative and entertaining. Chemistry is really important. Mario was a great play-by-play man, but he was stuck with Rod Allen. They weren't horrible together in spite of the lack of chemistry, but they weren't great either. Don't know why they shackled Mario with Rod.

I would love to hear these two do the "Who's on First" routine made famous by Abbott and Costello.

They are good together but 162 games of this is going to get tiresome if they continuously force being funny and fill every space with words.

This is kind of it for me too. Jason is an excellent play-by-play announcer, and I do like Dirks as well. I don't mind the humor at all, but sometimes they go on too long and it just gives me two bros on a couch vibes. Like they forgot their actually calling a game here, and go on several minute stretches only half pay attention to the game.

Exactly, strong pick me behavior from Dirks.

Andy Dirks is annoying and not funny. His attempts at humor fall flat most of the time. And most of the time when he tells you what the next pitch will be he's wrong. Tigers fans deserve better.

Yep. They have great chemistry and just have a natural vibe with each other.
Don't get me wrong, Perry is good but Dirks & Bennetti are a better team.

The radio broadcast is better. I don’t need trying to be funny for 9 innings with the TV broadcast.

As someone who only listens to the Tigers (I live overseas and can't afford the money or the time to watch a full game--not to mention the time difference) Dickerson and Dirks are my favorite duo, even over Bobby

Anybody but Bobby Scales. The man legitimately played less than one month at the major league level and has zero connection to the Detroit Tigers. Hiss analysis is basic at best and he offers no real insight into the game, nor is he an interesting character.
Is he REALLY the best color commentator the Tigers can find? Or all the former Detroit Tigers players, Bobby Nobody Scales gets the job for two seasons, maybe more???

My favorite combination is Jason & Andy on TV and Dan & Bobby on radio.
