They have a massive war chest, they could lose 10 times that and not even flinch

That’s what Charles Foster Kane said too

He’s definitely Kane. He’s also definitely Bourne.

I want Charles Foster Kane and Michael Corleone to be in the same room together and see what they'd talk about.

Exaclty.

I cant help but indulge in a bit of silly and naive math: Apple is worth 3.2 Trillion bucks, then Apple will have to stop this loss-leader thing in the year 5225.

I'm being silly. Don't ackshually me.

I can't help but ackshually; Apple doesn't have 3.2 trillion bucks...

They have about 65 billion....

Double well-actually -- they also spend that $ on buybacks etc, so their cash flow is more.

Apple gross profit for the twelve months ending December 31, 2024 was $184.103B

Insane.

Son, I said I was being naive once and called my own take silly — twice(!!) and THEN ended with a plea to not have to deal with pedants.

Some people can’t help themselves.

I know Dad, I know, but Apple being worth (x) doesn't mean they have (x) to spend. It's not just silly, it's betrays a complete misunderstanding.

Let me slow this down for you:

I know. It was a joke. You should stop.

I'll leave you here with your hair blowing from the whoosh.

Apple is worth 3.2 Trillion buc

Well ackshually, they never said they had 3.2 trillion, just that they're worth that much.

2

u/3_50 16d ago

That was the problem. 'Apple is worth 3.2, so it would take till the year 5000 to spend it all'...

Well, now I know... Even when calling yourself out and saying not to, some people just GOTTTA SAY IT! Lol I didn't think someone was going say anything after reading your post but I was unpleasantly surprised once again haha

crazy, isn't it?

It's like there's certain kind of person who just can't make their brain stretch a fact in order to make a silly joke.

For these people, chickens never cross a road, horses never walk into bars, and the number of any kind of people it takes to screw in any sort of lightbulb is always, exactly, mathematically, one.

2

u/redditthrown123 16d ago

Exactly. There was absolutely no need whatsoever to comment what they did. It's basically a heckler at a comedy club that has no self-control or funny bone. Interrupting the whole show just to say something dumb as hell cuz the comedian didn't quote something right or got a fact wrong (on purpose).

Iirc the have the most cash on hand of any puplic company

The issue is, as always, investors. They want an increase every year.

4

u/SamShakusky71 16d ago

They are getting an increase every year, they don’t care Apple TV is losing money

Apple makes money of its ecosystem more than any other company. Someone having Apple TV is an opportunity to advertise phones, computers, smart home devices, watches etc. and when you get those it will all work together better than other providers, and is all high quality. It’s not the best value but as someone that “runs IT” for my extended family - I appreciate how easy apple makes things.

Sure, but thats not how rich entities actually act. They are the most jealous, greedy and cheap of all of us.
