Already did the cancellation. Once they have new seasons of several shows, I'm back in. Now that's the problem with most of streaming services. You'd be crazy to subscribe all 12 months when you can effectively watch all you need in a few weeks.

Smart honestly.

I subscribe and cancel the service immediately if it lets me so I don't forget, otherwise I just do it the next day. My family rarely notices and when they do, they just ask me and 30 seconds later they're good. How people can tolerate paying for all these monthly services is beyond me. I can afford it easily but it bugs me to no end.

That’s why more or going for weekly drops. I’m sure I’ll end up paying $30 just for Righteous Gemstones.

I was very confused when the thumbnail for S4 ep1 was on Home Screen of Apple TV.

Like the show had a series finale ending already lol

Or you could just wait until there's 3 episodes left to release before subscribing

How is the new seasons? I watched season 1 and loved it. Watched season 2 and hated it.

Seems like they produce more quality shows than most other streaming services, so I am more than happy to help the cause and pay for months when I don't watch or watch very little.

Apple don’t need your help, they are a 3 Trillion dollar company.

Sure, but having sustained subscribers will help keep the service around vs only having subscribers for 3 months out of the year, regardless how much money they have.

I've had it for about a year and a half and never paid yet- so many free 3 month trials being thrown about everyone in the house has had a couple of them so far

1

u/eharvill 15d ago

We could have done the same thing, but honestly I was too lazy to swap out user IDs on all of our devices for the free 3 months each time.

Bruh moment

Which is why TV series used to have twenty something episodes spread out over a few months.

We should absolutely go back to that.

Cycle streaming. I do it too - just cycle through the various services depending on what shows are out and what I want to watch.

u/Purdaddy 16d ago

And it takes years for the next season to drop, basically every show.

1

u/meandthemissus 15d ago

Any show with more than 1 year between seasons I lose interest in. Too far apart to even remember what's going on.

I sign up for whatever deals I can get during Black Friday. There are some incredible ones. Last year I got a year of Peacock for $20, a year of Disney + Hulu for $2.99/mo, and 6 months of Max for $2.99/mo. I’d never pay full price for any of those, let alone year round.

Did this for years and I’m always amazed more people don’t just rotate through the various services, precisely because after a month or two you’ve seen everything they have to offer that you want to watch. Then two years ago I discovered the Black Friday streaming specials and now I grab some of the cheaper specials for a full year. Just switch the email address to a new account and the-up as a “first time” subscriber.

Old(er) people are going to go right from overpaying for cable to overpaying for streaming services. My mom is subscribed to 4 or 5 and only sometimes watches netflix.

u/i8noodles 16d ago

release them weekly like in traditional shows and u have at least 2 months of sub time from a sub set who watchs shows the day of. thats already more then everyone binge watching for a month

1

u/ScarletHark 16d ago

I do pay for D+ all year because it really isn't that much money from me for the amount of entertainment received. But that's also the only service I have.

1

u/breno_hd 16d ago

That's why all of them are bringing live events.

1

u/oldmaninparadise 15d ago

Soon they will meter it, and only let you watch 1 episode a week!

1

u/Newtons2ndLaw 15d ago

So obvious that I didn't even consider that. Now that is a good media hack for us simple minded folk!

1

u/bullwacky 15d ago

Sounds like they should start locking people into yearly contracts

The only thing I’m consistently subscribed to is whatever music platform, f1tv cuz vroom vroom and Crunchyroll cuz I’m a filthy weeb. Otherwise it’s a monthly thing for the rest.

I’m the same. I sign up for Prime every November for Christmas shopping, binge watch a few top shows over the holidays, and then cancel in January. I don’t shop enough throughout the rest of the year to make Prime pay. The only streaming service I subscribe to all year is Britbox.
