Was Silo any good? I read and liked the first book, but that's it.

I really enjoyed it. I guess I'll say that it's more prestige than I expected it to be given the genre

If you read the comments here some people suggest glancing over Season 2 and they're not totally wrong... except if you liked Season 1 you would be well-served watching Season 2 just because it's super enjoyable even if not a whole lot happens.

But the very very last scene of the last episode of Season 2 hits really hard if you build up to it slowly. Just sayin'

Yeah season 2 was like 9 episodes of lubing up but it was totally worth it

It's a decent sci-fi watch that has high production value but is light on having real heart to it. It's kind of like a fast casual meal. It will fill you up but it's not memorable.

S1 - good S2 - just read the spark notes

Season 2 could have been an hour and a half long movie.

I think it was reasonable given where they left season 1. Shows often need to slow things down a bit for season 2. Not saying it isn't justified, but I think viewers are just far less willing to be content with that when they have to wait so long.

I disagree. It felt like I was watching a completely different show. Had to struggle through the first half.

Ah I'd give it a little more than that. They definitely dragged the Solo plot for sure and then just rushed it with the kids, but there was only one episode where I felt like nothing pushed the plot along at all.

For me it’s not that they dragged the plot with Solo it’s that him and Rebecca didn’t have enough air time. Leaving it on a cliffhanger then having like 4 minutes of them swimming over 2 episodes was just rough when there was fuck all else happening anyway.

All of that swimming was exactly what I felt was dragging that plot. The water pump was just unnecessary filler that did nothing for the story. We already know Jules can fix everything, and there could've been other ways to maintain the suspense of if Solo was stable and trustworthy. I still enjoyed it though, seeing her show up on the screen gave me goosebumps.

I JUST WANT TO SEE BABY PETEY CRAWL AROUND IN A BABY-SIZED SUIT. WHY DO THEY KEEP TEASING ME.

Edit: oops I thought this was about severance.

S2 was better than S1

It was. Rebecca Ferguson was good in it.

It’s slow but it’s good

Incredible!! One of the best shows I ever saw!

rebecca ferguson is the best part of the show. the whole thing is a bit silly and melodramatic and i feel like there are lots of plot holes. but i also like the ambition of the show and what they are trying to do.

Rebecca was the best regular...

Season 1 was great, season 2 was ok. It felt more of a middle story to give more information and world building for what may come next.

I really liked the setting and world building but the pacing is glacial; there are so many episodes where basically nothing happens.

It's decent. Bit of a slow burn which I am fine with burn also a bit meandering at times, which can lose momentum

It might be better suited to binging than week to week

Bro you have to read the next two books. They ramp up and get more crazy and awesome with every chapter. Very satisfying conclusion

Season 1 was great. And if it was canceled we would spent 20 years saying that its sad that it was cancelled.

But it wasn't cancelled. We got season 2...and season 2 has none of the magic. It's barely even passable.

Can't speak for everyone but I gave it like 5 episodes and thought it was awful. Some of the most bland, flat, soulless characters I've ever seen in a show, the same dull, serious tone every scene, ugly production, and it didn't feel particularly original.

The same thing could be said about severance. Eye of the beholder I guess. And trust me I love severance. But it has this dull bland feeling too sometimes.

u/bjankles 16d ago

you’ll never guess how I feel about severance.

Pretty much what others said. I read Wool so I loved the first season. S2 was okay, but the whole season could have been 2 episodes and it would have covered the same amount of plot

Silo is so fucking awful. The pacing, writing, and general direction are a total shit show. Its so bad you can be on your phone most of the time you're watching it and miss out on nothing
