Man, it's hard to see this pic knowing the condition he must have been in at the time. RIP to an underrated actor, and one of the key roles from the series that really added depth to the lore. This dude is VERY familiar with these games that Death plays, but it never touches him. Very excited to see this opening night.

Watch them in order of release. He drops lots of hints about Death's game. The 5th movie really does a great job with it.

Sorry but just a stupid question to be sure i understand your comment correct. Watch in order if release means to watch them in the order they were released in theatres? If so what order would you otherwise watch them in? Like why wouldn’t one watch them in the order they were released? Is it because there is one of the movies that came out that isn’t in the chronological order?

Just watch them in order of release because if you don't, you'll get spoiled by revelations. Don't think too deeply about it. Things that happen in later movies explain/spoil mysteries from the first movie.
Like, imagine watching Movie 3 and the the characters are trying to figure out why such and such happened the way it did and they only figure it out at the end. If you watch Movie 4 or 5 they'll assume you watched Movie 3 and completely spoil the mystery.
you'll also know who lived and who died in the previous movies, killing any tension if you watch out of order.
So it's just a precaution because a lot of people who never watched them assume the movies aren't connected, but they are very much connected. A lot of people who HAVE seen it always talk about how one of the movies sucks compared to all the rest, and they recommend skipping it or watching it first which is a terrible idea.
So that's also another reason. The primary reason is to avoid huge spoilers. The less you know, the better. You will absolutely ruin the cinematic experience of a life time if you spoil yourself on this franchise. I'm not even joking.

I still remember how much of a badass I thought he was, the first time I saw him in Night of the Living Dead (1990). He was kicking zombie ass, in that movie.

I'm a huge zombie and Romero fan, and I think the 1990 remake is far superior to the original. Tony is amazing (and a way more nuanced Ben) and Pat Tallman as Barbara is one of the best final girls of all time. I literally swooned when she was firing that repeating rifle.

Tony was a member of the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences for 30 years
His long career in Hollywood -- over 250 film and TV credits -- should have been enough to include him in the In Memoriam ... and Fatima says the Academy should commit to highlighting artists like Tony who worked hard and made an impact.

Gosh, he really was ill. I'll watch the film simply to see his final role and selfishly, I'm glad he gave us one last outing, but it must have been difficult for him. I saw some convention photos of him over the years where he looked a little leaner and I wondered if he was going through something, but try not to presume. I would have loved to have met him. The man brought gravitas to even the silliest roles.

Anytime I see Tony Todd, I think of his role in The Rock. It's a minor role but he plays it to the hilt. He's great because even though he's a villain he also undercuts the general's self righteousness perfectly with one line.
"I'm not a soldier, the second we took hostages we became mercenaries and mercenaries get paid. I want my fucking money!"
I feel like he's the definition of there being no small parts just small actors.

His work as Jake Sisko growing up without his father and recounting his life story to a young biographer in DS9’s “The Visitor” is some of the finest dramatic acting of the series, which is no small feat in a series that is more of a drama than science fiction.

As a big Star Trek fan this episode is probably my favorite Star Trek episode of them all. I highly recommend it to anyone who hasn't seen it, it can viewed independently of the rest of the series.
He also played Worf's brother Kurn in both DS9 and TNG and had at least one villain of the week role in Voyager. I honestly love almost everything I've seen him in, his voice was so iconic.

He was and always will be a national treasure. He was one of my most favourite actors ever since I was a kid and rented out a VHS of the Night of the Living Dead remake from my local library and was enthralled by this badass dude. It was so sad to see him go. Hope he's resting good. RIP to an absolute legend.

Oh man. I know he passed away but seeing him this skinny is brutal. I grew up being introduced to horror films wayyyyy too early lol but his voice and face in candyman sits on a pedestal in my memories for my love of horror. I hope if we go anywhere after death he is still killing it.

Met the man one time. I've told this story a few times...it's worth retelling I suppose.
I had just watched Candyman a few days earlier, it had given me some legit nightmares. That movie scared the crap outta me. At the time, I wasn't getting much sleep We had two young kids and I had just wrapped up medical residency...I was running ragged everywhere I went.
So a few days after watching that movie, I'm due in Vegas for a medical conference. I'm up at Detroit International, and the flight gets delayed. It keeps getting delayed. I was supposed to leave initially in the evening at some point, by the time this story gets going it's about 3AM. I had been working on my laptop, catching up on various emails and notes while waiting all night.
At that point, I'm running on caffeine and willpower. So I go to the restroom to see a man about a horse. I wash up, splash some water on my face and as I dry my face off, I see Tony fucking Todd in the mirror behind me, checking himself out and straightening his collar.
If I hadn't just gone to the bathroom, I probably would have pissed myself right then and there. I didn't really scream, per se, but it was, shall we say a "very startled exhale".
After realizing I wasn't hallucinating, I just said "Wait, you're actually Tony Todd, right?"
He said "That's what it says on my license" or something like that and I just kinda shook my head and we both went about our business.
I went back out and sat down at a table at the airport bar. He came into the same bar a few minutes later and immediately started hitting on a table full of attractive women, who recognized him and were absolutely eating it up. The bartender was also a little star-struck.
As for me, I was just trying to get my heart rate back down to normal.

I hate seeing him look so ill but he is the only reason I'm seeing this film. I burned out on Final Destination years ago, but growing up in the 80's and 90's this man was and still is a horror GOAT.

My friend's mom used to organize sci-fi conventions. And according to him Tony Todd and his mom hooked up on more than one occasion. Eveytime i see him in something i text my friend and say "that dude that railed your mom is in [insert movie or TV show here]"

I wasn't even expecting him to show up in the newest Indiana Jones game. And there he was. I yelled out in excitement "that's Tony Todd!" As a tear filled my eye and my brain connected dots.

I just started another X-Files rewatch, and when I got to his episode, "Sleep" it made me a bit sad. He's so great in that role (and everything he did), and it was a pleasure to enjoy that episode again.

When I think of Tony, I think of a big strong intimidating guy that I grew up with.
He looks just like a shell that happens to resemble Tony in this image, and it breaks my heart.

CWs Flash had a lot of issues after season 1 but Tony Todd being the voice of Zoom in season 2 was really damn cool; and menacing as all hell.

Coincidentally I've been rewatching all of the Final Destinations, passively. After the second one they got progressively worse, to a point that they're a struggle to even passively watch.
Todd only ever had cameos in the first two (I think?), so if they're spotting him like this, hopefully his role in this one is a bit bigger. It sucks to see him so skinny though.

Everyone should watch his amazing performance in the X-Files episode "Sleepless". It's a somewhat standalone episode ("monster of the week") so can be watched even if you're not a huge X-Files fan. His final scene makes me cry every time.
That episode was the first time I was aware of Tony and his amazing talent (even though I had probably seen him in other things prior).
He is also amazing in the Xena episode "Lost Mariner", his performance is honestly (and I say this as a huge Xena fan) way better than the episode itself.
Oh and Star Trek Deep Space Nine "The Visitor", where it feels like the showrunners said "who can we get that will make the whole audience bawl their eyes out?" Spectacular episode.
He even sold the hell out of the Crusade (Babylon 5) pilot movie as an insanely badass starship captain. One hell of a blaze of glory!

It's one of his lesser known roles, but he played the blind man in Frankenstein (2015 -- the one with Xavier Samuel) and he was just incredible. I've got a soft spot for that movie anyway (it's great and heartbreaking) but Tony Todd elevates anything he's in just by virtue of being cool as hell.

Wow it was hard to recognise Tony Todd at first glance. Now I can see his signature look.
I think the extreme weight loss highlights his large frame here. Like he had a strong structure and wasn't made to be super skinny. But of course he was very ill. A fitting yet somewhat ironic tribute to end his life and career as "Death" in Final Destination.

I just loved his voice in Spider-Man 2 game as Venom and Zoom in The Flash TV show. And his role in The Rock is just great. Pretty bummed he was not honoured for the “In Memoriam” section in the oscars this year.
