At this point why even bother anymore when Homelander and Omniman/Invincible do that so much better. Hell, you have Injustice if you want evil superman, or the JLU arc where the Justice League takes over the world.

I personally do not believe Snyder's take on Superman was supposed to be a deconstruction of supes or something. To me, it always seemed like a slightly darker, more Hollywood kind of aesthetic. Yeah, I think it only seems to have a slightly edgier aesthetic but far from pessimistic or even skeptical. Supes is clearly portrayed as a hero nearly all the time he was in the movies.

I think Snyderbros really started believing that this aesthetic had any more depth than a puddle. Kind of similar to manga/manhwa fans gassing up the most generic shit just because of aura and hype moments. DCEU was made before a time such obnoxious edits started to blow up on the internet.

They should just read irredeemable. It's my favourite evil superman story and it's also fucked up/violent without being garbage edgelord trash like the boys.

And yet those stories are mere blips in the zeitgeist whereas superman is still going strong 80 years later.
