It’s always the people you most suspect

Meh idk. I’m sure other girls have different interests or opinions on what is impressive no matter what age.

People be different.

10

u/8----B 14h ago edited 13h ago

Yeah that was a weird comment. He wasn’t a piece of shit because a 12 year old had a crush on him lol. He was a piece of shit for various other things.

32

u/Ambiguously_Ironic 20h ago

I think Johnny Depp is the degenerate drug addict version of Johnny Depp, and I'm also pretty sure Russell Brand has been sober for like 20+ years.

To be clear, I'm no fan of Russell Brand but there are a lot of bad things you can say about him without needing to make stuff up.

8

u/lavenderprof 18h ago

thanks for saying this, i was just about to. the revisionist history that’s happened with JD’s substance abuse truly boggles the mind.

2

u/[deleted] 17h ago

[deleted]

2

u/lavenderprof 12h ago

nah i’m not blaming you at all, i’m blaming the general media in this. i understand the comparison you’re trying to make completely and i’m sorry if this came off directed at you!

2

u/consultant_timelord 19h ago

I think they’ve both been sober for a while

0

u/Idkfriendsidk 12h ago

Johnny Depp is not even remotely sober

You made a statement about him being a drug addict and I corrected it. It's not that serious, there's no need to get bent out of shape and type up a multi-paragraph response.

Sorry if I offended you and I hope you have a good weekend.

6

u/8----B 14h ago

That last paragraph is so condescending, I’m embarrassed to read it. You aren’t even right. You made a mistake, no need to be a passive aggressive child about it. Just say sorry, ya dunce.

2

u/DeputyDomeshot 13h ago

I mean this is the same person who literally crushed on a celebrity as a child and then blamed him for it.

6

u/jotarowinkey 17h ago

back when you were 12 he was saying totally different shit.

27

u/ChaEunSangs 18h ago

Johnny Depp is the degenerate drug addict version of Johnny Depp

3

u/rhymes_with_candy 17h ago

Yeah, Russel Brand is more of a degenerate drug addict version of Richard Grieco.

4

u/mandersmanders 17h ago

THANK YOU 👏

4

u/Fatcapz 18h ago

Came here to say that

0

u/ExIsStalkingMe 17h ago

Good job! You understand why calling Brand "the degenerate drug addict version of Johnny Depp" would mean he's SUPER bad. The everclear comment in the next sentence after that is an analogy to further explain that point

6

u/dogsarefun 18h ago

Russell Brand did that thing where he clearly had prepared rants with enough big words to seem smart to idiots and then just rattled them off as fast as he could. It always struck me as him caring more about people thinking he was smart and insightful than whatever points he was trying to make.

3

u/_james_the_cat 17h ago

He admitted he didn't read books, just the cover and enough to blag a conversation to seem clever.

So Moby Dick? Melville. White whale. Call me Ishmael. Capt. Ahab. He's got a couple of phrases in his pocket to give the illusion of knowledge but he couldn't tell you anything in detail.

To the impressionable uneducated, he sounds clever.

Like the way Boris Johnson knows Greek mythology and fucking nothing else, but we think 'ooh. That sounded clever'

2

u/Clay_Allison_44 17h ago

Boris had to have learned something at those expensive ass schools.

2

u/_james_the_cat 17h ago

Yeah. He's not a great example, tbf. He knows a lot about one very obscure and fancy subject, as well as being a very good debater. He's able to thread little bits of his knowledge into his speeches and most of us go 'that sounded good' and he walks away having given the general air of someone who knows things.

Brand knows a little about a lot, and hits you (or used to. His style has changed) in the face, loudly with little details from a wide range of subjects, leaving your head spinning with 'how much he knows'.

They both climbed way higher than a fair world would have let them, but we are easily dazzled by brash people with 'knowledge'.

I guess Trump is the final boss of this. He pulled a similar trick without the vocabulary, which is impressive. He just tells people that he's intelligent, loudly. And it works.

1

u/MetalingusMikeII 15h ago

Sounds about right for a right wing grifter.

2

u/cutepiku 18h ago

Damn, I had this same experience where I briefly thought he was amazing. I even have his books. They'll be heading to my donation box shortly..

2

u/DeputyDomeshot 13h ago

While I don’t disagree what a vapid asshole brand is, it’s still very weird to me that you ascribed some negativity toward him due to your teenage celebrity crush like that’s literally anywhere near his control lmao.

It just seems weird even retrospectively displacing some of the accountability there. Sorry I felt inclined to tell you that.

1

u/CV90_120 17h ago edited 17h ago

Russell Brand is the degenerate drug addict version of Johnny Depp,

Are you trying to get this thread locked? Never bring up JD unless you want to crash a topic.

1

u/CV90_120 16h ago

A little. now we have to watch team Heard fight team Depp all over again. :)

1

u/DeputyDomeshot 13h ago

Team Heard already shit the bed on that one. Hopefully that’s the last time I’ll ever make that joke in my lifetime.

1

u/UnitedRooster4020 15h ago

His only really funny moments are calling out other vapid people and confusing them with his verbose responses. It's funny when he completely wrecked Morning Joe team and Mika for their typical crap. Everything else is just being a creep though. You're right that only immature inexperienced people would ever think that act is funny.

1

u/Bagelz567 14h ago

How the fuck is 100% ethanol halal?

1

u/dman2316 11h ago

I'm sorry, but it's not that weird for a preteen to find themselves having a crush on an adult, man or woman for both sides. Hell, some preteens have a crush on the "boring and put together ones" as you put it for that simple fact that they seem mature and intelligent to them. The problem isn't when a preteen has a crush on an adult (nor is it necessarily/automatically the fault of said adult either), it only becomes a problem if the adult finds out and encourages it or intentionally tries to create the crush in the first place. I mean, have you never had a crush on one of your teachers? Cause plenty of kids do and again, unless the teacher finds out and encourages it or tries to take advantage of that crush then the teacher didn't do anything wrong. Again, man or woman. A preteen having a crush on an adult doesn't make the adult unrespectable if they did nothing to encourage or foster said crush because you aren't responsible for the way others view you, you are only responsible for your own actions. I say that as someone who was had a 21 year old woman take advantage of me as a teen and initiate a full blown emotional and sexual relationship with me from the ages of 14 to 17 and 21 to 24 respectively, so i find it really distasteful that you not only say this only about men when it's not about man or woman it's about everyone and women are just as capable of sexually predating young boys and girls too. But more importantly use a blanket description of all adults as unrespectable if a preteen/teen has a crush on them (without their involvement) or suggest there's something wrong with the adult for simply existing and finding themselves the target of a younger persons crush (especially when in your case the guy you're talking about literally didn't even know you existed) through no fault of their own when there are actual, real predators out there intentionally trying to create these types of relationships with children. It's distasteful and it's a disservice to all the kids that were actually taken advantage of in this manner to try and make it seem like men are somehow at fault if a teenage girl gets a crush on them and you trying to paint them out to be something they're not.

1

u/cire1184 9h ago

Are you OK?

1

u/dman2316 8h ago

Why do you ask? I'm pretty sure i know why you're asking but with this being the internet i just want to make sure i know why/what you're asking about.

1

u/cire1184 8h ago

Have you been able to talk to someone about your traumatic experiences?

1

u/throwawaySY32323232 18h ago

It's not that deep

0

u/atheist87 16h ago

What’s wrong with being a “conspiracy theorist”?

1

u/ziddersroofurry 9h ago

Because if you believe in conspiracies you're an idiot. People can barely manage to organize a D&D game without it falling apart, and you think some global cadre of schemers is going to keep shit together without people spilling the beans? That's not how humans work. Just look at MKUltra or the Catholic church. Shit gets found out because people can't help talk (or know they should despite the danger to themselves).

[deleted]

1

u/Idkfriendsidk 12h ago

He did not, actually

0

u/Letters_to_Dionysus 15h ago

I don't think you can just go around and believe the opposite of whatever 12-year-olds believe because 12-year-old girls are dumb or whatever the logic is. sometimes they do get things right here and there so you shouldn't disregard the entire age and gender of that group LOL

u/Demitel 17h ago

Yikes. Imagine making a bold claim about the entirety of a population of 260+ million people while linking to a resource that mentions that the average reading level (not maximum) is at a specific level.

Sounds like you could brush up on some literacy skills yourself.

0

u/Dracomortua 17h ago

Indeed.

Thank you for pointing out your struggles with a generalized concept and applying this with an analogous style perspective.

I shall brush up on my... um... literacy pronto, dear friendo.

2

u/Demitel 16h ago

That would be a valid retort if your initial response implied any sense of generality whatsoever.

If you are in the 'US of A' then your reading is stuck at a very specific level...

However, your omission of any kind of broad adverbial modifier (e.g. "probably"; "likely") in this instance,

As much as i want to agree with you, EVERYONE who is an influencer of any kind, in 'show' or not, must now run at this level.

and your bizarre emphasis on "everyone" in this instance conveys specificity and comprehensiveness, not generality. If you were truly speaking to averages, you did not communicate it effectively.

I'd also like to make the claim that there's more than enough entertainment in the U.S. that doesn't feel the need to solely appeal to the lowest common denominator and happily respects its reader/audience's intelligence. Brand just made the choice to... not be that.

1

u/Dracomortua 16h ago

As far as i can tell, you might be right.

There seems to be this fanatical drive to win shit in your country. You now have an orange president that seems to defy all logic and reason and be very keen to somehow... win... by annihilating the economy and then telling Faux News that he did the goodly thing and has all the best people.

Perhaps it isn't a literacy issue. Perhaps i am wrong. Perhaps it is the problem on both sides is that we have folks, like you, that avoid the entire understanding and seek to naggle and pester over the most totally banal and stupid points.

You know what? You win. Yay. Have a hero biscuit and please go away. Wow.

2

u/Demitel 16h ago

I actually fully agree with you there and will absolutely concede that point.

1

u/Dracomortua 16h ago

We both conceded. You win though, you abandoned the attack entirely.

Well done. I think the point is probably deleted by now? But that said, it was good to meet you.

1

u/[deleted] 16h ago

[deleted]

0

u/Dracomortua 16h ago

I deleted it.

Have a noice life, American! You guys are Number One.

"Your reasoning is.. Presidential!" Ah ha ha ha ha.

418

u/Neceon 22h ago

Except drag queens, it's never them.

647

u/coys21 22h ago

That's because I never suspect them.

49

u/Neceon 22h ago

Some people seem to blame them for everything.

153

u/SpaceShrimp 22h ago

Those are the people we most suspect.

17

u/OsiyoMotherFuckers 20h ago

I had a superior in the navy who had a habit of baselessly accusing people of using drugs and stirring up trouble for them over it. Guess who eventually popped for cocaine on a piss test?

A thief suspects a thief. A liar suspects a liar. A rapist suspects a rapist.

7

u/pm_me_flowers_please 20h ago

r/notadragqueen would like a word with you.

8

u/Songshiquan0411 20h ago

I think they mean we most suspect the ones blaming drag queens for all of society's ills.

5

u/pm_me_flowers_please 20h ago

Oh I know. I'm just being silly pointing out that we have a sub for it. Don't know why I'm getting down boated.

1

u/ne0b0rn 18h ago

As long as your not getting r/noahgettheboat 'ed

3

u/your_dads_hot 19h ago

This is amazing!

1

u/dual_citizen_dude 18h ago

So say we all

2

u/jaxonya 19h ago

You mean they drank my milk and that's why I didn't have any for my cereal this morning. Here I was blaming my kids for drinking it all before I woke up.

2

u/Neceon 19h ago

Well, according to Republican election ads, they will steal your job, rape your wife and kids, and kill your dog, so... stealing your milk is not far-fetched.

5

u/coys21 21h ago

Those people are idiots who are probably dealing with confusing internal feelings and not knowing how to express or handle them.

-6

u/Party_Apartment_5696 21h ago

Like losing an election?

4

u/Ishmaelewdselkies 18h ago

Really, really telling on yourself here.

5

u/Whatisgoingon2028 22h ago

Rapists or those who support rape, like MAGA, blame them.

2

u/TheGreatPicard 22h ago

Yeah, but those are the sort of people who hate down a line, Women (nope cant hate anymore) Black people? (nope) ok ok the gays? nope.....ok well....have you ever heard of transexuals before?

-9

u/Weekly-Design-6893 21h ago

It’s fine to hate women as long as you call them a TERF first

3

u/wishful_living 18h ago

With some people, hating TERFs may just be misogyny in disguise. But that is certainly not the case across the board

I am an ardent feminist, but I cannot stand TERFs

1

u/chuckart9 21h ago

Good point. You can be extra hateful then.

TIL that right-wing politicians throughout the Anglosphere are just a Reddit thing and they don't actually affect anything in the real world.

9

u/WinterWontStopComing 21h ago

Anglosphere?! I thought they closed that place down

7

u/ObiLAN- 21h ago

Thats the big tv thing in vegas right?

2

u/WinterWontStopComing 21h ago

No no no, that’s the sex cauldron

4

u/muskisanazi 21h ago

That reminds me, I need to renew my membership

2

u/stoptosigh 21h ago

No that’s the Vegas Sphere. The anglosphere is the parts of earth inhabited by life.

15

u/Trauma_Hawks 21h ago

I'm listening to talking heads and actual sitting representatives in federal and state government saying this. You're incredibly nieve if you think it's just the terminally online.

9

u/speakingofdinosaurs 21h ago

Did you see the GOP election campaign?

They're everywhere! They're coming for your jobs, your children, your lives.

At least according to GOP ads.

Plus you have the US threatening other governments to comply with their regressive anti DEI policies.

Pretending it's an online thing is nuts.

3

u/Brndrll 19h ago

99% of people regularly touching grass never even have seen a fuckin' drag queen irl.

That ain't stopping my MAGA bosses from bitching about them constantly. Can they even name one, aside from maybe RuPaul? No. But you better believe drag queens and transgendered people are coming for them and their grandkids and only Trump can protect them.

6

u/Ok_Armadillo_665 22h ago

This is a good troll. I'm actually impressed.

2

u/Major-Brush1038 21h ago

Thanks for your nuanced contribution

-2

u/Party_Apartment_5696 21h ago

Seems like there is a group to do that with everyone. Just look at Reddit lol

2

u/DudesworthMannington 22h ago

Nobody expects the crossdressing exhibition!

2

u/phuktup3 20h ago

of course its starts with the exhibitions and before you know it, high egg prices!

1

u/DexterVibes 21h ago

Suspicious

1

u/a_rude_jellybean 21h ago

Just like the.... spanish inquisition.

1

u/waldo_wigglesworth 21h ago

NOBODY expects the... Oh, bugger!

1

u/R_V_Z 21h ago

Yeah, I put a lot of cache in their sashay.

1

u/Cory123125 20h ago

Truly, that rule applies in reverse for those folks.

496

u/UpperApe 22h ago

I've always said a fair compromise on the whole bathrooms situation was to make three bathrooms: one for men, one for women, and one for conservatives and priests.

You know, if we really want to protect children and vulnerable women.

4

u/johangubershmidt 21h ago

Had me in the first half

9

u/hidperf 21h ago

I'm using this. I just had a "discussion" with my Trumpard sister the other night.

2

u/tcourts45 20h ago edited 19h ago

The whole thing never made an ounce of sense. Their argument is that people WOULD be willing to rape/sexually assault someone, but those same people will 100% comply with bathroom policies? What kind of a moron would give that argument even an ounce of thought

4

u/Jazmadoodle 20h ago

Right? I'd rather have unisex bathrooms with proper stalls.

1

u/fillymandee 20h ago

The Liberal Redneck porch rant about this is gold.

0

u/Testosteronomicon 20h ago

Wasn't that a South Park joke too?

0

u/j_lee1958 20h ago

or we can piss and shit on the floor anywhere cause fuck us, it's already in our water, right?

0

u/manofmystry 20h ago

"You know! For the kids!" - Norville Barnes - The Hudsucker Proxy

0

u/Snarfbuckle 19h ago

When you really want conservatives and priests to accept how gay they are.

8

u/Stunning-Drawer-4288 21h ago

I get the point you’re making it but it feels regressive to suggest any group is immune from this kind of thing

7

u/enataca 21h ago

I mean claiming absolutes like that just isn’t true either. This is from a month ago: https://www.nbcnews.com/news/amp/rcna193452

11

u/AnotherScoutTrooper 22h ago

I thought misinformation was banned on Reddit

5

u/DapDaGenius 21h ago

Well, sometimes it is. There’s sickos in every bunch of people out there.

2

u/Shipairtime 21h ago edited 21h ago

People interested in this topic may want to visit https://www.whoismakingnews.com/

Off the top of my head I think there was one drag queen that was in the news for being a pedo over a 15 year period.

Edit to give more context that 1 was compared to the 50,000 priest in the same time frame. That might be wrong but I dont feel like looking at the site again it is depressing. Comment with corrections below.

2

u/dm896 16h ago

Every group has good and bad: https://fcfreepresspa.com/franklin-county-drag-queen-sentenced-on-child-porn-charges-from-last-year/

That’s why it’s important to judge every person on their own actions and not because of the group they are a part of.

2

u/ComprehensiveFun3233 21h ago

Not true. 17 years ago there was one drag queen in Milwaukee who ended up being a real creep. This, of course, means each and every drag queen for the rest of time is also a creep. It's just logic.

2

u/bottle-of-water 21h ago

If we ever applied this paradigm to everything else…

0

u/Arkhangelzk 22h ago

But I don't expect it to be them, so this still fits haha

2

u/Sartres_Roommate 20h ago

Because when you aren’t scared of your sexuality, drag queens are the least threatening, most harmless and friendly people on the planet.

1

u/SaulSilv3r 20h ago

Bro just be glazing drag queens 😂

0

u/Veshango 20h ago

Tell that to people roofied and fucked in bathhouses. Club Pittsburg for example.

-3

u/Gingevere 22h ago

Well TBF I've never expected drag queens.

3

u/Autofish 22h ago

No-one expects the drag inquisition

-5

u/Independent-Waltz738 21h ago

Is this serious? No blanket statements can be made about any group of people in regards to this.

6

u/Neceon 21h ago edited 20h ago

Hyperbole is lost on some people. Conservatives have been labeling drag queens pedos and groomers while they themselves have been the ones getting arrested for it.

-1

u/Top_Report_4895 21h ago

Don't jinx it

3

u/Ocelot2727 16h ago

2

2

I’m having de ja vu with this exact comment lol.

2

u/No-Good-One-Shoe 21h ago

For a second I thought it was Russel Peters when I first read the headline and was surprised. But the other Russel is on brand.

1

u/tnseltim 10h ago

Sometimes it’s the people you most medium suspect though

1

u/backside_94 21h ago

I wondered why he suddenly moved to talking about conspiracy theories and right wing stuff, he was scouting out his new home

0

u/nunazo007 21h ago

The right wing pipeline initiation usually starts with having SA cases/allegations/etc.

0

u/MikeLowrey305 21h ago

Like hard core Republicans! 🤣

0

u/RazzamanazzU 20h ago

Anyone who supports Trump...birds of a feather.

-1

u/rdem341 21h ago

He has always struck me as a weirdo creep. I am not surprised by this.

His content is also cringe to watch. Lots of logical fallacy throughout his videos.

0

u/Lopsided_Income1400 21h ago

Are you on IG too? Because someone made the same comment.

3

u/Nearby-King-8159 21h ago

It's a pretty obvious play on a famous quote; "It's always the person you expect the least."

0

u/lionseatcake 19h ago

I'm glad I'm not the only one that was like, "one" rape?

Edit: upon further reading there are multiple allegations so...yeah really wasn't far off from what I expected. Never really cared for that guy.

-2

u/OJSniff 20h ago

The amount of drag queens on RPDR that have since been accused of or have received sexual assault claims/charges; in comparison to the amount of men and women on TV in general, the percentage is higher for drag queens.

I’m in no way saying that all drag queens are rapists or anything of the sort. I enjoy drag & RPDR.

0

u/Varla_Satana 19h ago

That’s a wildly false and dramatic statement. There have been over 700 queens across all the international Drag Race franchises, and more than 200 just on the U.S. version. And out of all those queens, only about three have ever been accused of sexual misconduct. Let’s not act like the whole franchise is a problem because of a few bad apples.
