You know the headline after Bush was elected in 2000?

"Our long national nightmare of peace and prosperity is now over"

Less than a year later we were at war

There is a video from after the 2012 election, joking that the front runner for the next Republican nominee was Giant White Ball of Rage.

It was funny when it first came out but... It was spot on with its metaphors

Less than a year later, our country was hit with the biggest attack since Pearl Harbor. I'm not saying where we went was the right place (Saudi Arabia should have taken the full force), but the United States as a whole was out for blood and somebody had to pay the bill. I would like to add that the president had full Congressional support from both parties at the time.

Once again, I'm not saying what and where we did was right. Things were very emotional at the time, and to be frank, somebody was gonna lose a pound of flesh over it......

Oddly enough you know who made a rousing speech warning Congress about the dangers of getting into that conflict even when she knew it was her job to represent her constituents of New York. Hillary freaking Clinton was actually right about everything.

It’s utterly ridiculous that the thing that likely stopped her from getting elected, the emails, has now been done by Trump and his cronies several times to even worse levels. Mar o lago, signal, the recent email scandal.

Biden was too boring though ig.

Are you blaming Bush for 9/11?

There were a number of possible responses to those events, not all of which involved a couple of wars.

You know George Bush's favorite political philosopher according to one of his debates with Al Gore?

Jesus Christ.

Jesus would have definitely jumped right into two foreign wars! That's what Jesus said, when someone slaps you on the cheek you punch their neighbors in the face! And you imprison their friends and torture them!

Insane takeaway from that comment lmfao

Why is that insane? Bush elected in 2000, war in 2001 was the result of 9/11. If Gore had been president we would not have avoided the war in Afghanistan.

Are you confusing the 2003 war in Iraq?

u/rolldamntree 21h ago

What are you talking about? we did not have to go to war with Afghanistan

Okay bud

I know people loved that idea back in 2001 I was plenty alive and aware, but it was always a terrible idea that didn’t have to be done.

How would you suggest to have responded to Afghanistan giving safe harbor to Bin Laden and Al Qaeda?

6

u/rolldamntree 20h ago

Same way we eventually got him organized secret tactical strike. I also don’t think killing or catching him was worth trillions of dollars and thousand of other people’s lives.

You know that the operation that "got him" was launched from a US military base in occupied Afghanistan, right?

You have bothered to at least have cursory knowledge of the topic, right?

How should the countless countries that the USA has invaded and terrorized respond? How about the USA just fuck off?

3

u/PaulTheMerc 20h ago

Would help to actually invade the right counties over it?

1

u/mggirard13 20h ago

Afghanistan was harboring Al-Qaeda and Bin Laden, refused to hand him over or allow the US to investigate to attempt to apprehend him, and continued to give him and AQ safe harbor.

I believe you are confusing Afghanistan (2001) with Iraq (2003).

So Saudi Arabia had nothing to do with it then? Did you even read the documents?
