The league's probe will also look into a gesture by Warriors guard Buddy Hield ahead of Morant, sources said. League officials will talk to involved parties as soon as Wednesday.

It's a subtle gesture and if anyone calls him out on it he can say he's just warming up his hands. It'd low-key drive some people crazy.

Have any players previously done this? I love celebrations that mask themselves as regular actions like how Gary Payton II does the head scratch instead of the “on his head” to avoid techs. Drove Goga insane for sure.

A lot of his antics did not get enough attention. Does the average NBA redditor know he tweeted to some user "its free to see how hollows feel?" NBA never even acknowledged this.
Morant keeps getting off light. He should not be pushing his luck even with stupid finger gun motions. There's little doubt he pointed a gun at coworkers. Somebody who did that is lucky to still be employed with the same coworkers, and definitely should not be joking around doing finger gun motions.

Honest question, is the league supposed to just ignore this? If it was anyone else, sure, but Ja is literally a dude who has done some dumb ass things on social media with guns. Not exactly the image the league wants to portray.
IMO this isn't a "league being soft" type scenario, they want to protect their image. For as popular as he is, Ja needs to have way more common sense and self-awareness about shit like this.

Call me a pearl-clutcher, but I think it’s good for the NBA to deter the glorification/normalization of guns. Tons of gun deaths are the result of teens flippantly owning and mishandling guns. Just a while back here in Chicago, a girl died at a house party where they were hanging out and passing around a gun to look at.
