NJ Politics Protest In front of Tesla Dealership In Paramus
Rt 17 N Paramus NJ Tesla Dealership

u/letsseeitmore 24d ago
Uh oh, you are now domestic terrorists according to dear leader.
24
u/TalulaOblongata 24d ago
Apparently we are ALL criminals… he said it was illegal to boycott Tesla which means we are all criminals for not buying one.
9
u/Eternal_Bagel 24d ago
Yeah weirdly I guess that means until we give president musk some money we are all terrorists now. You think the next election is going to require proof of Tesla ownership to allows us to vote?

I don’t see these people burning/damaging property, so there’s the difference for you
-44
u/bpnj 24d ago
Such a bad faith interpretation. They are talking about the morons who cause property damage to Tesla stores, chargers, and customers cars. Clearly. Destroying someone else’s car isnt protesting.
29
35
u/yontev 24d ago
That's not terrorism either by any reasonable definition.
6

-28
u/bpnj 24d ago
Terrorism: the unlawful use of violence and intimidation, especially against civilians, in the pursuit of political aims.
What, is this somehow not political?
28
u/yontev 24d ago
It's vandalism, not terrorism. Terrorism makes people afraid for their lives, not for their cars getting keyed.
-16
u/LagoMKV 24d ago
Saying it’s vandalism isn’t making the case any better.
Anyone who does this shit is incredibly stupid. It should not be encouraged in any shape or form. If you think this is ok, then you’re wrong.
You guys are literally attacking your own party.
5
u/The_Golden_Diamond 24d ago
Protesting Fascism isn't stupid
-2
u/LagoMKV 24d ago
Your correct.
But you must be, because we are talking about destroying peoples cars. That’s not protesting.
4
u/The_Golden_Diamond 24d ago
It literally is, though
-2
u/LagoMKV 24d ago
Are you saying vandalism is protesting?
Going around painting swastikas on teslas is not protesting.
Also for anyone who thinks this is ok, is wrong.

Man... I was so excited when the Tesla store first opened in the GSP mall. They had that undercarriage sitting in the middle to showcase the batteries and engine and the non-sales guy was excitedly talking about how it would be so environmentally friendly because they could just replace individual cells instead of the entire cluster of batteries during maintenance.
Only... That never happened. Instead, Tesla started disabling features remotely because that was cheaper than recalling the cars. And stories started coming out how Tesla could just press a button and repossess your car by having it drive itself back to the dealership.
And now Teslas have replaced BMWs on the road as the biggest assholes you have to watch out for.
Completely independent of politics, Tesla is just a shitty company making shitty decisions. It had a lot of promise but when push came to shove, they chose to do everything cheap and easy while kicking all problems down to the consumer.
2
u/Dodges-Hodge 19d ago
Left politics. Right politics. Tesla is the only auto manufacturer in the US that isn’t union. Plenty of dirty tricks to stave off unionization.
Now there’s your protest.

u/Technologytwitt 24d ago
Getting your information from Facebook or Instagram doesn't mean it's true.
> Tesla started disabling features remotely because that was cheaper than recalling the cars. And stories started coming out how Tesla could just press a button and repossess your car by having it drive itself back to the dealership.
You think Ford & Chrysler are innocent? Know your history.... They're all crooks but that doesn't mean the product or the hard working people who build them are bad.
Antisemitic Views – Henry Ford was openly antisemitic and published a newspaper, The Dearborn Independent, which ran a series of articles under the title The International Jew: The World's Foremost Problem. He even received the Grand Cross of the German Eagle from Nazi Germany in 1938.
Opposed Labor Unions – Ford was notoriously anti-union and used violent means to suppress organizing efforts, hiring Harry Bennett, a former boxer, to lead Ford's internal security and break up strikes.Walter Chrysler was a key supporter of Franklin D. Roosevelt’s administration, especially when it came to the New Deal and military contracts. While this helped Chrysler grow, it also led to criticism that he was using government influence to get ahead of competitors. Many business leaders at the time opposed FDR's policies, seeing them as socialist, making Chrysler’s cooperation with the administration controversial.
Chrysler was heavily involved in redlining and discriminatory housing policies, particularly in Detroit, where Chrysler’s factories were based. His company benefited from racially segregated housing policies, ensuring that white workers had better living conditions while Black workers were kept out of certain neighborhoods.
Lee Iacocca famously lobbied for the Chrysler bailout in 1979, securing $1.5 billion in government loans, which saved the company. However, he was harshly criticized for blaming the workers and unions for Chrysler’s failures, rather than his own mismanagement or the company’s outdated designs.
While he cut thousands of jobs and slashed worker benefits, he continued to pay himself millions in bonuses, which sparked public outrage.

TL;DR LOL
I haven't used any Facebook services since before Tesla was founded as a company.
Other companies being shit doesn't excuse Tesla being shit. In this thread, we are discussing Tesla.

Is your comment meant to refute the statement above? It addresses exactly 0 points that they made and instead focuses on another company, which is just a whole lot of whataboutism. How about speaking to the points that were made?
-3
u/Technologytwitt 24d ago
Read, don't skim. Maybe you don't have the capacity to understand associations?
Getting your information from Facebook or Instagram doesn't mean it's true.
> Tesla started disabling features remotely because that was cheaper than recalling the cars. And stories started coming out how Tesla could just press a button and repossess your car by having it drive itself back to the dealership.
4
u/wearethedeadofnight 24d ago
You’re fun. I could say things like “maybe don’t get your information from infowars or X” and both statements would be shit from an argumentative perspective.
Or this? https://www.theverge.com/2020/2/6/21127243/tesla-model-s-autopilot-disabled-remotely-used-car-update
Or this one, where they re enabled the feature after public outcry? https://www.notateslaapp.com/software-updates/upcoming-features/id/1351/tesla-revives-remote-and-auto-window-capabilities-following-nhtsa-compliance
Ad hominem attacks (attacking character) are juvenile and do nothing to advocate for your position. Do better.
-2
u/Technologytwitt 24d ago
Again, take your own advice and DO BETTER.
These are articles of instances that are so unique, deal with circumstances that 99.9% of the Tesla buyers would never encounter or examples in which Tesla responded (and are in line with their existing policies) but you’re some how convinced that this is how it is with every Tesla??

[trump voice] Terrorists. Terrorists. They’re all terrorists, they’re out there causing so much terror, they’re- and Elon, we have Elon here, we’ll have him say a few words- but nobody’s given so much to this country, maybe not even me- and I’ve given a lot, a LOT- but he makes the best cars, these big beautiful electric cars, and I didn’t used to be a fan of the electric, but Elon makes a good electric- I just bought one the other day, did you know that? These terrorists cannot intimidate- well they can try, but they’ll fail, just like they always fail, they’re all failures- I can intimidate a lot more than they can, I like to be a nice guy but these terrorists, these domestic terrorist losers, they don’t understand anything…

u/AndersWay 24d ago
I generally don't believe protests really have much of an effect HOWEVER, this can have an impact on people's wallets which IS a very effective way of forcing change. So good for them! Jersey making me proud once more!
7
u/OkBid1535 24d ago
And your belief is your opinion, one many share
But the fact is protests WORK. They did for Vietnam, thr AIDs crisis. I started attending protests in 2004 against the Iraq War, i was 14. My dad was a soldier in the middle east. I was actively protesting HIS work.
Sure it took 21 years to end. But I've zero regrets for the protests i attended and I can sleep well knowing I've been against a war and have emotional intelligence.
People get really heavy handed with opinions protests don't work. If they didn't? Trump wouldn't have pulled a tesla sales pitch on the front lawn. The fact he claims protesting tesla makes you a terrorist, proves it's working.
So any negative opinions about protests can be ignored.

My dad was a fed employee and he raised me by "we all make choices"
You chose to be a fed employee You chose to invest (doesn't matter in what) Now facism reigns supreme, and people are protesting
Ans YOU are getting hurt. The protesters aren't the problem buddy. Yes there actions are hurting your little wallet and retirement. But how bout you have a Karen moment, and ask to speak to the manager
Musk
And remember WHY your wallet is hurting and retirement is HIM. Remember your federal co workers are being fired cause of HIM
If your hate is going to be directed to the protestor. Sweetie the propaganda is working HARD on you. Go get some damn fresh air.

u/SMODomite 24d ago
Nah, Fuck Musk full stop. Sorry your investments aren't working out bud but this shit is more important than money

3
u/IllustriousSalt1007 24d ago
But this is a RESPONSE to Elon and Trump who were ALREADY tanking everyone’s 401k before ANYBODY started protesting. Why are you blaming the people who are fighting back instead of blaming the people who started this?
You are clearly not operating in good faith, so I won’t be responding again. Have a good one.

Wouldn’t this be inconvenient for the employees? I think boycotting the brand and getting a different EV is good enough lol, it seems to be working too, considering that they had to get Trump himself to advertise Tesla in the White House.

Maybe 200,000 federal workers who lost their jobs recently? Or students with time between classes. Elderly. People with their own businesses?
2
u/Pugasaurus_Tex 24d ago
There’s like 30 people there at most, it’s not unreasonable to assume they had the day off. Not everyone works M-F

Not everyone works the same hours: also, Maga just fired thousands of people with their childish hack-and-slash 'policies.'

If you'd ever gone outside, you'd know that not everyone works the same 9-5, M-F hours.

Also, with some advanced notice, some people are able to take a day or half-a-day off, even if they do work those hours.
Also, Maga just fired thousands and thousands of people: did you forget?

ahhh thats why 17 was so bad this afternoon coming back from Hackensack.
Look guys, i support everything you are saying, but there aren't many minds left around here to change, and the traffic pisses folks off.
Edit: Seriously with the downvotes folks...like i said, i support their message, i support their right to protest, i recognize disruption is an important part of protest.
But how you protest affects how your message is received. They are protesting in an area that overwhelmingly supports their message (yes, i can read the election statistics for towns in this area, but the republican votes are primarly from one specific group of people who you aren't going to change the minds of outside a Tesla dealership).
And then you have the dude dressed up like a video game character (yes, i know what he is alluding to, and its still a stupid message to try and convey, especially in this area) and you just look like, well, a bunch of redditors with nothing better to do.
Go protest in front of the Toms River Tesla dealership, go hound down your representatives, target people who MAY be on the fence or teetering and who aren't getting alternative messaging about this stuff so they hopefully do their own homework and convince themeselves they were wrong. Some meme you threw on posterboard and standing on the side of the road cosplaying between your uber eats shifts isn't going to do that.

Just curious if all the libs/dems driving Teslas or that have money invested in their stock (which is like 90% of every portfolio) sell their cars and stock? Do that before you protest or you just look plain stupid
2
u/FitSignificance2457 21d ago
Selling the car does nothing, actually! If you drive a Tesla (which I do not) but disagree with the actions of its ownership, protesting to show that you want them to act differently is actually exactly what you should do. Same concept as protesting the government - I’m not going to move to another country, I’m going to protest to make this one better.
Agree about the stock though.

But you are aware that they were caught inflating the amount they supposedly saved, right? And I mean, to say “don’t rely on journalists” is kind of dumb considering they have resources in which they can audit this themselves (much better than you most likely unless you have experience with that). To simply trust what this page says is to simply trust what the White House government page says. It sounds to me like you’re a very gullible person, and I assume you think it’s just “libtard propaganda” any time DOGE backtracks on their supposed savings, huh?
2
u/FitSignificance2457 21d ago
When Musk ends the billions in federal money his companies get - including this floundering car company which hasn’t even had a new model in years - then maybe I’ll believe he’s actually after “waste.” But for now, all the “waste” seems to be exactly the kind of things that help low and middle income Americans, but never the stuff that benefits the ultra wealthy…funny how that works…
