What exactly has China done to Taiwan? It seems pretty diplomatic and peaceful. All the Sabre rattling comes from Taiwan and western countries.

China insists that Taiwan does not exist as an independent nation and instead belongs to them. That requires MAGA levels of cognitive dissonance, which becomes evident if you even talk to a Chinese person who tows the line.

What's the dissonance in this context? Seems straightforward to me.

Is Taiwan subject to Chinese law or governance? How can a country like China claim that Taiwan is part of China if they need to invade to exert control?

Who’s invading? When do they say they want to invade? Because the US talks emit invading places the time

So the world agreed that Taiwan is not an independent nation. It’s the One China Policy that most every nation agrees to. It’s why Taiwan is not recognized in the UN.

Despite all that, can you link to the actual incendiary comments made by Chinese officials about invasion and war with Taiwan? Cause when i search all i find are pretty calm goals of increasing diplomatic relations on the Chinese side and “the sky is falling, war is imminent” from the US/Taiwan side.

Just because the world feels its politically inconvenient to acknowledge reality doesn't change that reality. China insists Taiwan is their land despite lacking any real control over it. That is the state position and it is enough to make the simple claim that China is being unreasonable.

So you have no examples of sabre rattling from China

No, I don’t speak Mandarin. I do however have a number of Chinese colleagues who I have tried to talk to about it and they all confirm my understanding of the Chinese governments position, although they generally make it clear that they don’t think about it much personally.

"Trust me bro"

What did I say that you want evidence for? That China says Taiwan belongs to them or that they have no governmental authority there?

That they sabre rattle and threaten with invasion "on the reg".

Every time I look for quotes from Chinese officials about this it's very diplomatic and political. The only quotes about invasion come from the US War Machine that actually invades, bombs, and occupies foreign nations.

You're falling for it.
