This guy is probably like 22 but he looks 56

u/Crazy__Donkey 12h ago
Actually, was 34... which is very high for football player.

u/jackwhite886 11h ago
He was very high for a football player?

u/SkengmanJonny 11h ago
Not sure if you’re in on the joke, but yeah. He was a notorious coke head

Not at that time, average age of the team is getting younger and younger, IMO too much reliance on youth and not enough on skill/experience

CR played 30 years later.
Maradona played at the very begining of professional football, which was very amature in characteristic compared to today.
World class fields back then are not suitable for 3rd league games in Europe today.
Also, better medical treatment, better food, better sleep, better psychological care and the list is long.
And yes, there were the drugs. Not just coke.

Ronaldo made his professional debut less than 10 years after 1994. Not 30 years later.
Maradonna’s career was nowhere near “the very beginning of professional football”. Not even close.

Professional football started in the late 1880’s didn’t it ? Factory owners paid the best working-class players to play for their teams which upset the middle-class who played generally for sport and bragging rights.

u/ManSlutAlternative 11h ago
At 34 CR was playing at the highest leagues and looked like he is in his 20s. Maradona here at 34 is looking like he is 56.

Cocaine is a helluva drug

Looking handsome ≠ looking young. A 34 year old ronaldo looked like a handsome 34 year old footballer.

It’s weird that he plays a sport that requires you to run pretty much non stop, he does piles of cocaine and somehow, he’s still pudgy.

Many retired football players and other retired athletes gain weight due to their accelerated metabolism as their bodies are adapted to operate like a turbo mode. When they abandon this training routine they also get fat faster.

As someone that doesn’t know anything about soccer, was this guy considered good?

Dude had one of those deceptively athletic bodies. There's always a random short pudgy dude who has crazy athletics, him being the most legendary of those dudes

- 1994 World Cup (USA):
- Maradona scored his last international goal in their first match against Greece.
- He was disqualified from the tournament after testing positive for banned substances.

I thought it said Madonna's at first. I was wondering when she'd show up.

Is the cocaine part before the face wash or after? Or both? Or does it just not stop?
3
u/Key_Examination_9397 11h ago
Exactly! Every time the camera man was filming someone else, he took a decent hit, enough to get that show going

If you were to tell me this was one of the greatest athletes in the world's most popular sport I would legitimately think you were fucking with me.

He's training by himself to recover from an injury and the time off this caused. And he managed to be in shape for the competition.
His body was like clockwork. It's a shame that he ended up around drugs and sinister people. The details about his death show how people cared about his money and not about him at all.

u/Spell3ound 11h ago
Why does he look so out of shape?

u/v_for__vegeta 8h ago
I find it awesome that arguably the best ever player on the planet is built like a plumber approaching retirement.

My father's side has the exact same physical genetic build - they are like little hobbit powerful mythical creatures... incredible sprinters, incredible strength, and incredible endurance. No matter how pudgy and inactive they are and no matter what they eat, drink, or smoke.
I got my mom's genes unfortunately. I eat a slide of gluten bread and I can't walk straight for 2 days.

u/NeilDeCrash 8h ago
He has always bee built a bit that way. Low center of gravity, mind that sees things in the game before they happen and crazy technical abilities makes a perfect football player.

Mmm I do feel as though this is what we did when the camera was there. He would look or move like that if he did that every day! Total legend though. Hand of god! lol

Doesn't have the physique of a footballer but my God he is gifted with the technique and skills.
He just instinctively knew how to control and strike a ball like no one else.

Not him: it was debunked years ago. The public noticed the absence of scenes in which he does absolute shitloads of cocaine and that alone gave it away

Ah ye olde hangover face in the beginning.
That bucket of water must have felt amazing.

The OG baller, even high and totally out of shape, was a force on the pitch. Kids today will never know. Grande Maradona 🙇♂️

This dude said I want to be hanging upside down doing sit ups at 11 am but don't leave me hanging because I got to be fucking with that soccer ball by 11:05 am...😑

u/AndyLees2002 8h ago
Could they not have found him a training pitch instead of an overgrown farmers field?
1
u/Independent_Hour9274 8h ago
No special gym or equipment needed for training. Just a cornfield and a dirt riad.

This kinda reminds of those videos of Steven Seagal “sparring” with random dudes.

Everyone saying he’s out of shape- those baggy tracksuits weren’t very flattering, and also, he was pretty stocky anyway with huge legs. He probably had a similar bodyfat percentage to someone like Gazza or Steve Bruce

If Maradona were playing today, he wouldn’t even make the starting lineup for a bottom-tier FPL team.

He could be his actual age, overweight and an active cocaine user, but his on the ball skills would still be enough to make him an effective number 10 for ipswich or southampton

u/Nomad_Gui 12h ago
Don't forget, and I can't stress this enough, a lot of cocaine.
