Nostalgia Discussion Just got invited to my 1st LAN party in years. Thankfully, I don't have bring my own rig but I'm gonna dust of my overnight bag and sit close to the door like I used to lol. They were so fun though. What are your memories of them?

Back in the day my friend told them we were hosting a LAN party at my house and I came home from school to like 10 cases of it on my porch and 2 boxes of Bawls merch like shirts and backpacks

Yeah it was nuts. I had a whole fridge in my parents basement full of it, and then more cases stacked next to it.

There was never a LAN party lol

The painful moving of CRT screens. That was a PITA

I never attended one of these but they look fun. Must of been a pain dragging your rig around back then.

Back in high-school we use to go to this yearly LAN with thousands of people. Standing in line with a CRT to enter was an experience. I was really thankful when LCDs came out.

Used to frequent the two same gaming cafes between 2001 and 2007 with so many LAN parties and overnight stays playing Warcraft 3 and CS 1.6. My mom would give me 10 bucks to go hang out from 4-9pm after school as long as I got my homework done when I got home.

Was too poor to own a computer so idk. But I did enjoy doing this with the GameCube and mario kart double dash. That was fun

My brother used to do this at our house in the living room and it smelled like extreme body odor

Had one recently and played Artemis: Spaceship Bridge Simulator. I cannot recommend it enough, the game is so fun!

Myself and 3 friends use the lan together virtual every weekend back in the day, setup rigs on Friday night, then we go get something to eat, maybe catch a movie, then back and then game till morning, get some sleep start again around 2 or 3pm and game thru the night into Sunday morning.

Discovered counter strike at my first LAN. It blew my mind. I remember walking around the maps alone when I got back home, because there where no bots.

Went to a Lan party in a barn around 2001. About 40 people. No lie some guy had a barber chair, all red leather and chrome with a footrest. I had cut a window in the side of my PC tower and installed a plexiglass window and LED lights inside. Custom painted everything. 'TheBarber' killed me a lot in Unreal Tournament and Quake that night. So fun...

I've only been to a small LAN party with four of my friends. We played one of the early Battlefield games.

We ate taco chips and drank chocolate milk as per LAN rules, and it was a great gaming experience.

What, these still exist? Maybe there is hope for the world.

Missed this era. But I got a taste of it when I discovered Open Arena that used the same game engine and maps as Quake II. It was kind of weird to see all the homemade maps that players created, using stock skins and some used alot of their own pictures from the early 00's.

A lot of servers are still online but you won't ever find but maybe a dozen human players, of about 100 servers only about 3 or 4 actually have activity.
