I'm not entirely sure OOP is even claiming this happened. It reads like satire of all those fake "my kid said something profound" stories. It's probably not meant to be interpreted as true

What bothers me is the line "all the adults just gasped" and I can't help see in my mind all the adults turning heads towards the child, hands covering their mouths gasping like the child just said something horrific.
