Yeah... Absolutely that... Not the aftermath of a romantic night with the emperor...

These flopped out of my character's bussy a few nights after sitting on the Emperor's tentacles

YES! And a modest horror nerd. Knowing crinoids inspired part of Giger's artwork Necronom IV, which also informed the design process for the xenomorph in Alien? Fabulous. Lovecraftian horror also influenced Alien's screenwriting process and design process, especially At The Mountains of Madness, which Lovecraft wrote after being inspired by fossil discoveries in Antarctica (not crinoids, spongy fossils)!

And mindflayers/early DnD lore takes a lot from the Lovecraftian mythos; while designing mindflayers, Gary Gygax was inspired by the Cthulu-like entities in the larger mythos (but not Cthulu himself from Call of Cthulu, though our favorite eldritch octopoid god inspired echinoderm fossils to be named after him). So even with the problems associated with racist Lovecraft, we're all on this sub partly due to the legacy of his influence a century later, and a half century past the early development of DnD.

The subject of the shitpost is actually a partial catalyst for the literal circlejerking process for how we all got here circlejerking and talking about BG3! This is shitposting synchronicity!

Oh my god, I need to play another Great Old One warlock named Crinoid.

Everything comes down and back around to fossils!

Me reading your whole reply like "YESSSSSSSSSSSSSS!!!!!!"

I had a Giger artbook once upon a time, Alien has been my favorite horror film since I snuck downstairs as a six year old and hid behind the couch to watch when my parents rented it from Blockbuster, crinoids are my favorite (non-dinosaur) fossil, and I thank my high school English teacher who was ballsy enough to give me The King in Yellow and The Mountains of Madness to read when I expressed an interest in horror, even though they had been banned from the school (very religious small town). Literally love every word that you typed.

Oh, wow, same for Alien for me. I think it's a perfect film. And I did the same with Jurassic Park! My dad was also super into X-Files (my mom hates horror/sci-fi so he'd watch it in the basement), but it was "too mature" for me, so I'd be sure to stealth away into the basement, play with my toys quietly, he'd come down and watch it with the lights off, and I'd freaking crawl from one room to the other like a little cat to watch it from behind the couch. Your teacher sounds AWESOME -- I'm so sorry you grew up in a religious small town that had such literary censorship. My hometown is a large urban area, but still Bible Belt USA, so I feel that. The amount of times people who barely know ya and part of their "get to know you" dialogue tree relies on "where do you go to church?" is just...frustrating.

That's fantastic that you love crinoids, too, as a fave non-dino fossil! Sounds like we would've been friends as kids (if based on interests, set ages aside for simplicity's sake)!!!

I feel like we would have. Jurassic Park was the first movie I saw in theater! My dad took me to it on opening day, my mom was PISSED! Best day of my life though, I fell in love with dinosaurs that day and never looked back. And yeah, I absolutely feel ya on the "So which church did you go to" question. Idk how reddit works, can you 'friend' people on here? Because we should absolutely be friends now.

I gave you a follow and a dm but maybe that's wrong idk. No pressure either way! I use this account just to comment/like on bg3 related shit (with a few dips into other IPs of interest), since my main is more used with vulnerable/medical/etc discussion points and I keep my lanes separate. Kinda been burned a few years ago in certain fantasy communities *cough* Game of Thrones *cough* where disagreeing with a popular take or feeling like certain choices were insensitive prompts a lot of weirdos to comb through unrelated subs and throw prior comment history into the discussion.

Also I like sharing slutty pics too much and this is my place for that, ha,

This cluster of fossilised creatures look like they came from my ass. I swear one of them talked to me and told me to consume It with my MIND. Literal ass to mind action. I feel gross but great.
