Are there any Brazilians here? 😊🇧🇷

Hello friends,

I’ve lived in Olympia for about a year, in the US for over 20 yrs. I’ve lived mostly in large cities with a large international and mixed community. Olympia is a lovely town, but it can feel a little lonely when it comes to shared culture and values.

Today, my girlfriend and I decided to be silly and practice a little capoeira in our living room :) and the music made me miss my country and my people. So I thought I’d try to reach out and see if there are any Brazilians out there who’d want to form any community.

Fala português? ❤️

Beijos Obrigada 🙏🏽

When I went to evergreen (8 ish years ago) there used to be a student led group that did capoeira, with a handful of Brazilian students and the usual white hippy collective that comes with everything evergreen. So keep an eye out and maybe a Google can tell you more about locals/if there is still such a club

Thank you so much for sharing this! I think I found the program you’re speaking of online. I think this might be it?

The Capoeira master seems to be based in Seattle, so there might be a satellite group here in Olympia. I’ll look into it! Thanks again my friend :)

Good luck finding your compatriots! Brazilians are some of the most beautiful people on the planet (inside and out)! I can only imagine how much you miss the culture. Blessings ❤️

Not in Olympia, but Portland has a decent sized Brazilian population and my Brazilian friend made me aware of Bloco Alegria, a fun samba drumline. Their events may be worth a drive and the band/crowd has Brazilians and locals.

Feels like an ICE trap.

That’s awful that we’ve gotten to a point where a genuine call for Latino community would come across as an ICE trap. I’m truly sorry for the world and where we are. This comment makes me deeply sad.
