If you haven't seen it, check out the video where his daughter has cameras come into her childhood bedroom. It is fucking creepy and telling as hell.

as it turns out.. evidently, even though there was an actual movie, there is a strong possibility that Joan Crawford did not abuse her children.. this is explained in her wikipedia article
