I am mildly ashamed, but it also helps that everyone and their Mom's have a Tesla in my area, so we're not about to vandalize each other's cars.

We have two Teslas and the only reason we're not getting rid of them is because we have free lifetime charging. A part of me is like "suck it Elon," every time I charge, even though it means nothing to him.

He’s probably going to take that away at some point.

Honestly, I think a lot of people are in a similar boat when it comes to Tesla cars. Many people probably know at least one person they actually like that owns one. The "truck" on the other hand is a newer monstrosity that typically requires a certain type of person to have interest in it. There's no doubt some cyber truck owners aren't like that and have those types of tastes, but yeah.

It's not like selling them at this point is going to affect Elon at all.

I’ve debated this in my head over and over, I would love to dump my Tesla in solidarity, but I came to the same conclusion that it makes no sense. It would only hurt me to sell my Tesla at this point, and help someone still willing to buy one by increasing the flood of Teslas on the market. I bought my Tesla during COVID, so I have a 2.75% rate on my car loan. Getting rid of it means I would have to go out replace my car which means making a large purchase in Trump’s economy and signing up for a higher interest rate loan. I would very much rather not do that for both selfish and altruistic reasons. So yeah, still driving the Tesla and just doing my very best to not support the oligarchs or spend money that I don’t need to right now except when it’s going to people I want to support.

It would hurt you a hell of a lot more than it hurts Trump. We all joke about how right-wingers will eat shit just to own the libs. Dumping our Teslas would be the left-wing version of that.

Instead of spending money on a car to replace your Tesla, it would be better to spend that money on one of the many organizations that are trying to fight against President Elon and First Lady Donald. Or even just donate your money to a good cause.

Instead of spending your time and effort shopping for a replacement car, spend that time calling or writing a letter to your local congresspeople.

Or just live your life to the best of your ability. I don't know your circumstances. You may or may not be in a position where you have the time or money or energy to fight against the current administration. As the flight attendant always said, take care of yourself before you take care of others.

I agree with you, it doesn’t pencil out to do something out of principle if it ultimately hurts me financially with no negative impact to the people I care to stick it to. I spend my disposable income at local farmers markets and small businesses, and as you mentioned, supporting organizations fighting the good fight. My focus has been on investing my time and money in my community. That is where I feel I have the most impact and it also gives me some hope, which I desperately need right now!

I knnnnooowww 😭😭😭, we bought them years ago, not many EV options back then either, we had a Chevy bolt, but the recall made us swap over to Tesla.
