People who can’t imagine anything outside of their immediate worldview are part of the reason we’re in this mess.
It’s also really easy to imagine a list of reasons why someone would have wanted a car and then regretted getting it after finding out the CEO is a Nazi.
Tesla in general? Yeah, sure. But Cybertrucks are relatively recent and are so aesthetically extreme that they must be a statement about who you are.
And don’t start with the “this is why Trump won” BS. There are no struggling families disconnected from the news, anxious about grocery prices and whether there are boys in the girls’ changing room and so on, who also have a Cybertruck.
I know very liberal people who thought the Cybertruck was cool. You’re making a lot of big assumptions, and yes that is absolutely a part of the problem.
Making an enemy out of your fellow Americans is exactly what the opposition wants, and is a horrible waste of your time/energy/attention. You can do better.
This is not a comment on the point you are trying to make but whenever I read "you can do better" my immediate reaction is to think "fuck you" and completely dismiss the comment.
I just literally expect people of the liberal party to be better. I meant it quite sincerely. I can see where you’re coming from now that I think about it tho
I spent 30 seconds on that comment. I have attacked people for wanting to cut people out of the coalition. You’re making a lot of assumptions yourself here.
You said I’m wasting time. I replied that I spent 30 seconds making a stupid comment. You said I’m making enemies out of my fellow Americans. I replied that I have spent time trying to broaden the anti-Trump coalition. You said I was making assumptions about my countrymen. I said you were making assumptions about me.
I’m not talking about the time it took to comment on social media lol. If you spend your time hating Tesla owners when they are not the enemy, you are spending your time foolishly.
I don’t know what the anti-trump coalition is or what that has to do with giving grace to those who didn’t know Elon was gonna go full nazi. Demonizing anyone who isn’t as far left as you is only going to alienate people from your cause - that’s what I meant by my original comment.
I didn’t make any assumptions about you, I’m just trying to get you to think a little outside your box. Sorry if I bothered you.
You said I’m making enemies out of my fellow Americans. I replied that I have spent time trying to broaden the anti-Trump coalition.
The other person is right though. You're an anti-Trump person attacking another anti-Trump person. While you're not going to drive them away from the left and toward the right, you're making it so that they will never willing work with you to fight against the right, thereby weakening your coalition.
You said I’m wasting time. I replied that I spent 30 seconds making a stupid comment.
Then maybe you should spend some more time and actually think about what people are saying.
But Cybertrucks are relatively recent and are so aesthetically extreme that they must be a statement about who you are.
They predate the pandemic by half a year. They predate Elon buying twitter by three years. They predate Elon doing Nazi stuff by nearly 6 years.
Back then, the worst that was known about Elon was that he was an edgelord asshole. His reputation was in a drastically different place than he is today.
Yes, you're completely correct. The build quality and the poor design details also were not known sat that point. And you're right, that while Musk was kind of a dick back then he only went full mask off more recently.
