And Musk brought a chainsaw on the stage of the CPAC conference last week. What else was he taking credit for than job and spending cuts with that farce reenactment?

That's OK. Republicans have repeatedly and reliably argued in courts of law that the things they say shouldn't be taken seriously by any rational person. As such, they're not to be held liable for the consequences perpetrated by irrational people who act on the things they say.

They could argue thst the president misspoke, because he's an invalid, impotent, incontinent old man, who isn't fit for his position.

Which, "Great! You finally admitted it!" you might think.

Except at that point, your only option is to impeach and/or recall him. Good luck with that.
