Soft Paywall The Biggest Scandal of the Second Trump Term Isn’t “Signalgate” | The national-security chat debacle certainly merits attention. But the Trump administration is now blatantly disappearing students and others who are in the country legally.

Turns out that was just an excuse for a bunch of loudmouth assholes who never felt safe.

I always thought it was about small penises and shooting school children. But Americans kept telling me it was about stopping a tyrannical government from forming. Alas, here we are, and I was right.

It seems there are no good guys with guns...

u/1984isAMidlifeCrisis 8d ago

There hasn't been a longitudinal study that shows correlation between obsessive gun ownership and hypogonadism. But there's been plenty of studies confirming the link to School Shootings.

Without violating the TOS I can say that at least 3 have tried.

u/TehMephs 8d ago

It’s not just conservatives anyway, but it’s also not just as simple as rarara I’m upset

5

u/ObnoxiousAlbatross 8d ago

2A is a force multiplier for the tyrant, not a guard against tyranny.

Repeal 2A.

14

u/SameResolution4737 8d ago

Careful - Reddit might get a letter from Ed Martin, Jr threatening unspecified "legal action" and block you.

How will being armed help? Fighting government with guns is fighting them on their strongest ground

Far more likely she’d be dead.

50

u/ItsGalsBeingPals 8d ago

Who says she's not already. She got disappeared.

24

u/basketcas55 Indiana 8d ago

At least she’d be dead before the other things they’re about to do to on her with Donald’s blessing.

26

u/MarvelHeroFigures Texas 8d ago

Assuming that won't happen in El Salvador or wherever the hell they disappeared her to?

10

u/NinjaLanternShark 8d ago

A grad student with a gun she routinely carries, on the way to class, suspecting nothing, is surprised by six plainclothes federal agents, and you think she comes out ahead?

Europe over here spitting facts on the second amendment, we truly are in a different dimension.

Though you forgot the quotation marks for "officers"

2

u/NinjaLanternShark 8d ago

Wrong.

The first time 3 officers end up dead, the next time they show up in an MRAP.

3

u/MarvelHeroFigures Texas 8d ago

What do you think that imagery would do for their public support?

8

u/TehMephs 8d ago

Idk plainclothes goons in ski masks answering no questions picking up kids already should be setting off every alarm imaginable but - lemme see. Ah yeah no one’s looking up from TikTok

2

u/Joshiie12 South Carolina 8d ago

With MAGA voters, it would increase it

0

u/TanneriteAlright 8d ago

Then blow up the mrap.

Your attitude is how fascism succeeds.

It will escalate, but it has to. We can't groan our way out of this mess. Revolutions require the blood of both tyrants and patriots.

13

u/MarvelHeroFigures Texas 8d ago

I never said she'd prevail unharmed. Why make that up to pretend to be incredulous?

-1

u/NinjaLanternShark 8d ago

If she gets one shot off, the next time they send 12 people.

If she hits someone, the next time, they show up in body armor.

If she kills someone, the next time they show up in an MRAP.

9

u/MarvelHeroFigures Texas 8d ago

Some people are apparently content to be disappeared without making it hurt the perpetrators. Some of us are not.

0

u/NinjaLanternShark 8d ago

OK tough guy.

If I get arrested, I’m done. I’m on a plane to El Salvador, even as an American citizen.

Arresting someone now is pretty much signing their death warrant.

So, yes, should I be arrested on whatever trumped up charge they’re using these days, I would absolutely try to take out as many of those doing the arresting as possible.

4

u/mopthebass 8d ago

One day americans will understand fantasies are well... fantasies

9

u/MarvelHeroFigures Texas 8d ago

No one is fantasizing about the civil war these nazi ghouls started.

8

u/NoShitsGivin Canada 8d ago

Yeah... hit them where it hurts, with a strongly worded letter.

5

u/WhyLisaWhy Illinois 8d ago

For average people, it won't do much. But if you're here without permanent citizenship and start blasting when people in plain clothes try to arrest you, it'll make them think twice in the future.

You also may not see any jail time depending on the state. There's a reasonable argument that you feared for your life and were just exercising your second amendment rights, just like Conservatives intended.

1

u/TehMephs 8d ago

Yeah but the conservatives are now in charge and above the law. They’ll call you a terrorist and send you to El Salvador for sure next

I mean they’re threatening that for spray painting baby Elon’s cars

Stop thinking law will shield us. We’re past law being anything but a boot to step on everyone’s necks but theirs

I’m in agreement, but you better have a good plan after. I’m taking the exit ramp if I’m backed against a wall like that

3

u/ItsGalsBeingPals 8d ago

Wahoo. I have no idea. But I'm sure people would be able to come up with some ways to peacefully protest.

I've been pretty staunchly anti-gun my whole life until now

1

u/nonotan 8d ago

Small arms are pretty useless. Learning to fly drones will be way more helpful when shit hits the fan. Neither is all that helpful when it comes to personally avoiding an ambush, in fairness. But realistically, there isn't much you can directly do about that other than "don't be there".

1

u/galtoramech8699 8d ago

Reddit. Good luck with that

-9

u/betajones 8d ago

It isn't an insurrection clause, it's obviously meant for foreign tyrannical invaders, regardless of what nuts say.

7

u/Wonderful_Common_520 8d ago

It ment for tyranny. They comin for my family. God, family, then country.

-7

u/betajones 8d ago

Is that not what I said?

10

u/DesperateArachnid 8d ago

You said foreign tyranny, it's also for domestic tyranny.

-5

u/betajones 8d ago

It's not. Where does it explicitly say that on the 2nd amendment? It is to keep English invaders off our land, so that we remain free. How many times has the 2nd been successfully argued in court for an assassination attempt on a government official? Its your right, yet you don't use it? It's because you know it's not meant for domestic terrorism.

9

u/DesperateArachnid 8d ago

What are you talking about? People use the second amendment to defend their homes all the time. It was to stop government overreach.

-1

u/betajones 8d ago

That's self defense, not addressing tyranny from your government. That's not what we are talking about here, is it? I think you're under the impression that the language was written, with 50 separate states in mind with their own rights separate from government. No, the "free state" it's speaking about is America. You're free to defend the freedom of America, a self governing state, from tyrannical invading forces like England.

4

u/DesperateArachnid 8d ago

"A well regulated Militia, being necessary to the security of a free State, the right of the people to keep and bear Arms, shall not be infringed". Says nothing of invading forces either. It's been argued as necessary to defend the US from tyranny both foreign and domestic.

0

u/betajones 8d ago

Are you part of a local militia?

5

u/Gadgets222 8d ago

Bro, the oath of office literally says “ALL enemies, foreign and domestic”. Get off reddit and learn your history and your rights.

0

u/betajones 8d ago

Oath of office? How tf is that the 2nd amendment? Yes there are domestic enemies, hence why we have laws.

3

u/Gadgets222 8d ago

I never said it was in the 2A, hence why I said “oath of office”. If you don’t understand or simply cant comprehend why we, the people, have a right to defend ourselves against tyranny; then you’re part of the reason why it has taken root so comfortably.

1

u/betajones 8d ago

How does a citizen define tyranny?

→ More replies (0)

3

u/NinjaLanternShark 8d ago

2A gives you the right to own the weapon, not to shoot someone.

1

u/betajones 8d ago

Right, but the shooting someone is the part where there's disagreement. The poster on the parent comment isn't saying everyone should purchase a gun, they're saying to USE the gun.

2

u/S14Ryan 8d ago

It’s obviously for anyone who would turn the US into not a free state. It doesn’t specify which tyrannical dictators it’s referring to

-3

u/Oreo_ 8d ago

Against who?

15

u/offinthepasture 8d ago

ICE? Border patrol? Any other number of fucked up systems of control that are being abused right now?

9

u/il_biciclista 8d ago

Ask Breonna Taylor how that works out. It doesn't matter who's right and wrong. When you shoot law enforcement, they kill you.

14

u/ItsGalsBeingPals 8d ago

Ask the student who got disappeared. Oh wait you can't because no one knows where she is and she might already be dead anyways.

8

u/il_biciclista 8d ago edited 8d ago

What they're doing is unconscionable, but a gun wouldn't have helped her. She was arrested by six armed men. If she had tried shooting them, she would be dead.

1

u/offinthepasture 8d ago

Yep it's fascism

2

u/offinthepasture 8d ago

They also kill you when you aren't doing a damn thing.

-7

u/Oreo_ 8d ago edited 8d ago

You want me walking into my neighbor's house and shoot them for working for the federal government? 3 months ago that guy was a Biden employee and Democrat. I have no evidence that he personally is disappearing people, those folks wear masks.

It's a lot more complicated than your making it sound.

2

u/LatterTarget7 8d ago

Would you just stand there and let ice disappear you to another country?

0

u/offinthepasture 8d ago

I'm just giving example of the tyranny that the 2A folks seem to think they're going to stop.

But this system of control ends in one of two ways: a slow and grueling effort to remove the bad actors from power legally, or a quick and violent revolution.

If you have examples from history that end in a third way, I would love to hear them.
