Comments like this are not helpful, everyone needs to still vote.

Because voting has done wonders for this country

Well ot actually has. Maybe not in super recent history. But open some books or Wikipedia even and read about where we were in 1776 and where we are now as a nation.

Try not to be so short-sighted. I mean that sincerely and not in an antagonistc way.

It’s refreshing to see that someone out there still has help, but I am certainly not one of them

What life was like 249 years ago in America is irrelevant at this point. We’re now living in a hyper capitalistic dystopic spiraling fireball which is quickly turning into an autocracy devoid of any actual constitutional principles

To say that history is irrelevant is just ignorant. People are still people, and you can learn a LOT about how people thought during times of oppression, what methods they used to overcome them, and how people actually achieved progress.

You think today is dystopia? At least 30% of the European population died from the black plague (that'd be >100M Americans). People lived under Feudalism for over 600 years, where the vast majority of the population were serfs for many generations. People lived under kingdoms where they had almost no say in their lives. We had slavery in America until a little over 100 years ago. Women couldn't open up bank accounts a little over 50 years ago. Black Americans couldn't use the same drinking fountains as white people across much of the country until a little over 50 years ago. Fuck, think of how people living in active war zones right now would react to you saying your life RIGHT NOW in America is dystopian?

Sitting back and saying, "Well it's all fucked" helps absolutely no one. I'm only encouraging you to be apart of the solution, and try to avoid being caught up in the despair, (which I can complete sympathize with how difficult that is to do). I get that your anxious. I'm anxious too. I'm also scared. But it helps to contextualize things with history so we don't end up wallowing in our own self-pity.

What is your suggestion then?

When Americans lose the lifestyle we’ve been accustomed to for so many years and are no longer fat and happy — people will hit the street en mass like the French and perhaps we will see actual change. Until then we’re fucked

That's not a suggestion, just common sense

No suggestions from me
