When even Fox is publishing this, you know you've really fucked up.

It's too late now. Trust is hard to gain and easy to lose, and once it's lost you'll find it won't be easy to regain.

When Fox publishes this, they see the risk to the right

I agree this is why they have the article but Rand Paul said it , not fox. Their front page has nothing on the economy as well and is just a bunch of BS

Actually there’s an article up right now about how the shrimp industry says they’ve had trouble competing with foreign shrimp farms, and how excited they are about the tariffs.

Which…

That’s EXACTLY the kind of thing tariffs would be used for, in a specific, targeted manner after consulting with experts.

You put a tariff on foreign shrimp, to protect American shrimp.

Which…

Isn’t what Trump did.

Any time Fox News is upvoted to the politics hot page, we're doing it wrong.

We went from the world leader to pariah in like 2 months.

Anti-american sentiment has been brewing for a lot longer than that. And I'm not talking about the "death to america" people. Though they've probably had a point for decades as well.

Granted though, your tea-party is all grown up now and ready to eff up the world big time.

We might need Europe to do us a Marshall Plan after all this is done.

Once the fascists are gone, I'll vote wholeheartedly to spend British pounds helping you guys rebuild.

Yes and no, yes it's been brewing for a while, but not nearly to this degree. I can tell you as a Canadian, that this has caused a seismic cultural shift against America, far beyond anything in living memory. I know we had that beef back in 1812, but it's been pretty smooth sailing for a long time now between us. I can appreciate that we both have different perspectives though, being on different continents and all.

Yeah, your shift is seismic. That speech Carney gave the other night, was downright chilling.

You should read the comments in that linked article though. They are cringe inducing.

Can’t expect Fox News readers to have intelligent takes tbf. It’s mostly, “other countries are doing tariffs and aren’t crumbling” and “before taxes, tariffs were main source of revenue for the government”

Fox news comments make the conservative subreddit look like a forum for geniuses, lol.

Yep.

Governor Newsom of California is doing it right: https://www.newsweek.com/california-newsom-trade-trump-tariffs-2055414

u/gerth 1d ago

As a Californian I find it amusing and absolutely unsurprising that folks are decrying this action as unconstitutional. Not disagreeing as I believe that is true, but now they care about the Constitution? Lol

it's an opinion piece from Rand Paul

u/mofroman 1d ago

well a quick scan of the comments says we should all just buy american everything. because you know, we already produce everything we consume right here in this country, parts and all.

u/JMurdock77 1d ago

Do they even grasp that things like coffee and the lumber we use for home construction don’t even grow here?

Trying to close the barn door after the horses already ran through the woods, over the border, and straight into a glue factory

Trust is earned in drops & lost in buckets. Damage already done.

Amazing that they'll publish this but the talking heads on TV will still suck that orange chode

Trust is gone, your 401k just took a major hit (we’re down almost 2000 points today!), and now they want a $7 TRILLION tax cut for the rich. Middle class is fucked with Trump

Edit: market closed 2231 down

The only thing that'll fix it is an end to Trump. He needs to be removed from office.

Barring that, congress taking back power is at least a step in the right direction.

1

u/Minute-Individual-74 1d ago

They're still being giant pussies about it. They're quoting someone else saying it.

1

u/donkeyrocket 1d ago

It's a quote from a Rand Paul op-ed. They love to have him on to pander to a subset of dipshits that still watch Fox News to look "balanced."

1

u/OldTrafford25 1d ago

Tar and feather Trump, and the trust could be restored v fast. It won’t happen, but removal would make a huge difference.

Starts with the people though. We gotta be on the streets

Yeah, honestly I've lost faith in America, full stop. Regardless of who is power, America (including right, left, non-voting, and ignorant) has lost the will/ability to work out its disagreements civilly and democratically.

u/LiteracySocial 1d ago

I was on their News page today for fun to see how they would report any of this is positive, and they didn’t comment on the market on the front page at all. It’s weird because they’re starting to post articles like this, but they bury it in the site. It’s garbage.

On a similar note, the first legal challenge was filed by the conservative NCLA

u/DudleyStone 1d ago

It's marked as an "Opinion" piece from Rand Paul, buried in a sea of trash.

All of the recommended videos at the top are Democrat-bashing shit or pro-Trump interviews.

They even have a clip with a caption saying that Trump predicts the tariffs will help boom the economy on the same page.

So everything else on their site completely goes against this piece, and in a way it's just going to make Rand Paul look stupid instead of promote anything anti-tariff. (Not that Rand Paul isn't already stupid, but that's not the point.)

u/objectivedesigning 1d ago

If Fox is saying this, then you might think twice about condemning the tariff.
