If Obama or any other Democrat and possibly any other GOP President before Trump had done any of the shit Trump has pulled, they would have been impeached in seconds.

Or at least marginally restrained by Congress. Like maybe just a smidge even.

When Trump got elected, I thought it would almost be worse if he got impeached because that means we would have the first true DEI president, JD Vance, who absolutely did not in any way shape or form win the presidency.

He was chosen because he would be loyal and because he fit a certain demographic. That's it.

I didn't think it would get this bad this quickly, though. I'd rather let Vance dick around for the next 3.5 years and maybe even return normalcy to his party.

You think Vance will bring normalcy to the GOP? I think he's so far up Trump's ass that he wouldn't know what normal or being a decent human being is. If he did, he wouldn't have accepted the nomination.

VPs are always, as you say, up the president's ass.  It's part of the job.  He'll pull away if he decides to run.  Kamala did not pull away from Biden, and it's widely considered one of the major reasons she lost.

I don't think he is a decent human being or will completely fix the GOP, but if he somehow stumbled into the presidency I could very well see him trying to be a normal Republican and at least giving us a not-super-stressful rest of the term.

Can you imagine how long we would have heard about it if Obama showed this much support for an African auto maker

The Dems did impeach him twice.  I imagine they'll do it again in '27 when they take the house.
