Notice its about getting re-elected and not upholding the constitution or doing good for the country. Its all about power.

It’s about keeping their cushy job where they aren’t expected to do anything and get paid handsomely for it. They are what they accuse welfare people of being—lazy.

Don't do my boi ted like that, he's done loads of stuff, like flying to cancun during one of the worst storms they ever had. What a patriot

/$ as if it was needed

What they get paid out by the government is peanuts. What they get donations, grift, and kickbacks for? That shit would make Taft blush.

Yeah. Every negative comment by Republicans is always focused on their chances of maintaining power and being reelected.

Never a drop of concern for the American people.

Exactly. They don't care about the country. They only care about what's good for their party. Voters need to wake up!

I find this so infuriating. Not "this is going to be really hard for Americans who can't afford food" but instead "this is going to hurt us in the midterms."

At least pretend to care about your constituents.

If it's about reelection, why don't they pass laws to block the tariffs? Only 4 Republicans voted to block the Canadian tariffs and Cruz wasn't one of them.

Because they don't expect to have elections. They are all in on this now.

I mean that’s like the one consistent value republicans seem to have, winning elections.

Color me surprised… actually don’t

Yup. Rafael want to see everybody but himself suffer, as long as he gets to keep his juicy seat in politics. He wants this, but without lossing the power.

He deserves neither.

I noticed you didn't go behind the Reddit title.... to quote Ted Crus from the article:

"Cruz: Tariffs are a tax on consumers, and I'm not a fan of jacking up taxes on American consumers."

and yet he will vote for the tax cut and is worried about the election because of power. This is the guy who ran to Mexico while people in Texas lost power in a snow storm.

That’s what drives me crazy. Their first thought is political consequences, not the fact that they are tanking the economy and causing lasting financial damage to all of their constituents.

1

u/TintedApostle 17h ago

The don't have constituents because if you notice they will move a loyal candidate to different districts as needed. Its about getting and maintaining power and having loyal people in those positions.

1

u/tonsofgrassclippings 15h ago

That is correct. The only thing that motivates selfish people is the possibility that they do not get to continue being selfish.

The decision for them becomes then:

  • Do I criticize and oppose the president, risking billionaires trying to primary me with deep(er) pockets?

  • Do I remain loyal to the president and hope that the billionaires in power throw money behind me?

As you point out, it has nothing to do with executing their actual job.

Cruz…can always count on him putting himself first

For all politicians. Pelosi and the crew on the other end have been in power for too many decades without doing good too. We wouldn’t be in this mess if the trash on the left took itself out a decade ago

1

u/TintedApostle 14h ago

Trump and Republicans did this.. period.

1

u/Sensitive-Goose-8546 14h ago

Yes they did! You realize that the same democratic elite have been ruling since the 80s? It was an oligarchy before Trump too. Please ask for better out of the “good guys” and you would never have been in this situation.

For example, Obama would have never lost to Trump. Somehow we picked 3 candidates who had the potential to

1

u/TintedApostle 14h ago

You realize the save the economy every time. Trump owns this in total

1

u/Sensitive-Goose-8546 14h ago

Brother I’m a life long democrat but if you can’t see the fault of the left after losing two easy elections and don’t see the oligarchs allowing this to happen then you’re as lost as a MAGA cultist

Both sides problem.

3

u/muttmunchies 1d ago

But not equally. Not close in my mind either. And to raise just that presents a false comparison that undermines otherwise appropriate disgust with how the GOP treat the middle class and working class etc.

u/OhSixTJ 1d ago

I point it out every time someone says “the right only blah blah” or “the left blah blah”. Until we all acknowledge that both political parties are only in it for themselves we’ll continue to suffer from whatever crap they dish out.

6

u/TintedApostle 1d ago

You would be wrong that they are the same and are just diluting what is happening right now.
