Remember back in November when everyone was screaming "it's the economy stupid" and "look at the price of eggs" and Democrats still fell for the idea that Republican voters are honest.

They're not. They don't care. They're sadists.

And idiots. While the Dems are not without fault, for at least 40yrs or so the Republicans have openly screwed over anyone not rich. I can get not understanding economics, but how can you be bent over for so long and not freaking realize it?

That’s the whole fucking reason ppl don’t vote or vote 3rd party. You can call them “single-issue” voters which is a terrible way to think. How many people do you meet/interact with who will agree 100% with everything you say? I don’t think there is one. The same logic needs to apply for political parties, pick the one that best aligns with you, it doesn’t have to be fucking perfect.

I’ve considered myself mostly “moderate” with left-leaning views but there’s 0 chance I support anything in the MAGA sphere. There are some issues with Dems I don’t agree with but that doesn’t mean I won’t vote for them. Especially now, where look at the alternative…

As amazing an invention as the internet is, and as much good as it's done for the world as a whole... It's definitely at least partly to blame for this.

Used to be that the kind of people that compose MAGA these days were just seen as the village crazies (minus the racist side which has always been loud in the US). They would yell and rant and spew their hate on street corners, but nobody really paid them any mind. And every village had 1 or 2, so they didn't have any real influence.

Nowadays some of the village crazies started YouTube channels that spoke directly to all the other village crazies, and started hiring professional editors, directors etc. to manipulate their content so it doesn't look as unhinged as it really is. Which attracts more people, etc etc.

The Internet has done a whole host of wonderful, incredible things. I wouldn't have met my wife, for example, if it didn't exist. But it's also brought about a new level of human stupidity caused by all the manipulative media online.

That is very on point. These people always existed but were somewhat isolated so the damage was minimal. But now they have whole platforms (Twitter etc.) to spread their nonsense.
