I’m in one of the most conservative areas in WI. I shit you not, the blinders are largely off based on discussions I’ve had over the last couple days. I’ve had numerous people at work tell me they greatly regret their votes. I’m so used to living in a different reality than most around here that it’s almost unsettling to finally be living with the same set of facts as everyone and be able to have meaningful discussions. I also have a buddy in GA whose experience very much mirrors what I’ve seen. Teddy’s concerns appear to be very justified.

They regret their vote means they wish they didn’t vote, not that they would have voted for Harris

I mean, at this point, I'll take whatever works.

Yes, but they’re too dumb to not be conned by the next grifter who rolls through.

America has missed such a huge opportunity by not having good public education. The selfishness that those people have when cutting education is so short sighted. I am firmly convinced after reading so much sci-fi that the key to great things for humanity is having as many intelligent minds working to solve complex problems (like cancer, energy production, math, construction, violence, malnutrition, etc.) which will make everyone richer. The end game of intelligence is abundance of everything, because we eventually figure out automation and how to colonize space.

It would be funny if what trips them up in the end is the fact that none of them are so pedestrian as to have and worry about a 401K and that they completely underestimated how greatly those in their base care about their retirement funds and check on them, if only now to watch their retirement evaporate before their eyes.

It's so depressing that this is the only thing that gets these people to think about their vote. Not the criminality, attacks on the constitution, attacks on democracy and literal attempts to establish authoritarianism, endorsement of violence, parallels to the early Nazi party playbook, or litany of other disgusting patterns of behavior.

My parents have a second home in northern Wisconsin. My parents and their friends up there are pretty MAGA. I'm kinda curious where they currently stand.
