The same Rafael Edward Cruz who recently introduced a bill insisting that we use the names on our birth certificates, and thus would surely prefer to be called by his legal and god-given name?

If you change your name your given a new birth certificate with the new name on it.

? No you don’t, it’s a record of the information at the time. You get a court order with the updated name to use to change your license/passport/etc., but your birth cert remains the same.
