Why aren’t the democrats fighting on this issue too? Or are they and I just missed it?

I’ve definitely seen some Democrats call this out for what it is (a tax hike on the average American), and it was mostly Democrats who backed Rand Paul’s resolution to revoke Trump’s tariffs on Canada.

But if it feels like Democrats aren’t hammering tariffs hard enough, it may be because, historically, they had a very strong pro-tariff protectionist wing. I mean, just look at some of the unions endorsing this.

I was thinking specifically about Trump usurping Congressional power by declaring an emergency when there isn’t actually one. Maybe Democrats don’t think the average Republican cares?

Maybe. Democrats have also historically been open to vigorous expansion of presidential powers and only really started to become skeptical after Trump was first elected.
