Old enough to remember when Graham tried to stand up to Trump, got yelled at in an airport, and went back to being his bitch the next day. They may pretend to be stern or concerned, but at the end of day Congressional Republicans will NEVER publicly turn on Trump.

Eh, we'll see. Ultimately what really matters to any politician is campaign funds. If the rich turn against Trump, it's over. Elon may think tariffs are good for him, but they pretty clearly hurt the bottom line of the average American business owner. Especially the big multinationals.

They haven't personally lost enough of their wealth yet. Give it time. The only thing Republican politicians hate more than dems is not being wealthy.

Republicans still want to ram in a tax cut bill for their wealthy buddies because the first one apparently wasn't enough.

Not to mention they haven’t seen the bribe checks yet from every industry and sector of the U.S. economy… that will soon be facing an existential crisis.

Wait… as I type that I wonder: could that be what is going on here? A mafia protection racket style shakedown? “Great economy/great industry you have there… be a shame if something happened to it…” — the goal being to bring our DOW and S&P companies to their knees, until they grab every last nickel they have and hand it over as a bribe to save themselves?

Lets go sit peacefully a d politely outside of all of their houses, businesses, yachts and other other properties.

Let's follow them where ever they go. Never a moment of privacy or peace.

They saw it coming and will wait it out so they can buy more when it’s at its lowest. They’ll get their land and riches in repayment. Pretty old story. What’s the point of having too much money if you don’t have other rich psychopaths to race their yachts with

Republican congress members are afraid of Trump exposing all the kompromat he has on them.

They aren’t ready? Republicans are scared shitless. What an abdication of their responsibility.

What an abdication of their authority, for fuck's sake. Who would have guessed that Republican congressmen would cede their constitutional powers without complaint? I thought they would at least have gripped their constitutional powers with white-knuckled claws and asserted themselves in the face of Executive overreach simply because I expected them to be jealous little goblins with microdeity complexes.

Guess they're too cowardly to even do that.

They’re complicit. If they were scared for the job, GTFO and let in someone willing to address the moment. If you’re scared to stick up for Americans and the people you represent at times like these, you picked the wrong profession.

Trump has to be stopped

every single american needs to be calling their reps - house and senate - on repeat until the tariffs are repealed. make your reps realize they will lose your vote and their job if they don't stop trump's destructive and unnecessary tariff/trade war that will make life so much more expensive and awful for americans. it will crush many businesses, people's livelihoods, evaporate retirement and college savings plans and hike up consumer products.

💯. I was never a democrat nor republican, I don’t understand how someone can be a republican it mind blows me. How the hell you want a man who was never elected by the people of the US given top secret information and access to the people of the US and firing people he doesn’t have the authority to. AND HE GAVE OUT MILLION DOLLAR CHECKS TO PEOPLE WHO VOTE. I’m absolutely speechless by this administration. It’s going to be a long 4 years

The castrated Republican congress members are also spineless. Nothing is going to happen.

I don't "get" how the Prez has the single authority to tariff. Then if a country wants to negotiate, they go to him. A hurt producer wants exemptions, they go to him.

And I am fairly certain I heard he is charging a million a seat at his Marshalagoon Golf dinner this weekend. Think any of that will go to cover the cost of the secret service? /sc

Only because of a bullshit emergency declaration that Congress can eliminate, but won’t.

u/Thund3rbolt 1d ago

I guess the fat asses are waiting for the recession and peoples saving to completely tank before they try to grow a pair.

2

u/KingAteas Canada 1d ago

So, they’re waiting for everyone’s 401K to go to zero?

2

u/saiyanscaris 20h ago

then they are complacent on what the tariffs cause. a worldwide great depression

u/Ebisu_2023 1d ago

He’s still their useful idiot. Once the tax cut bill is signed, they can throw him overboard.

1

u/GaimeGuy Minnesota 1d ago

Why do they need him for the tax cuts?

3

u/unknown_nut 1d ago

They don't since Vance would 100% sign it.

1

u/Ebisu_2023 12h ago

Maybe. Maybe not.

They need a super majority in the senate to overcome the veto.

I can’t even imagine that happening.
