Yeah, and they don’t want to be part of United States either.

26

u/karl_jonez 23h ago

Yeah trying to figure out why the maga cult thinks Greenland would want loads of medical debt, school shootings, racism, and the most corrupt politicians in our history. Why would they want to be a part of that?

5

u/Intelligent_Teach247 22h ago

Well, because the US has a supreme leader?

8

u/justtakeapill 22h ago

As MAGA says, "Trump is the real Jesus - not like that Woke one in the Bible".

4

u/TrailerParkFrench 21h ago

It’s a distraction from all the other awful things Trump is doing. It’s part of his “flood the zone with shit” strategy. Fill news feeds with stories about his intent to take over Greenland to drown stories about the Signal leak, tarriffs, inflation, the stock market, RFKs cuts to science funding, etc, etc.

If everyone’s talking about the thing he won’t do to Greenland, no one’s talking about the terrible stiff he already IS doing in the US.

4

u/Sea_Exit_8194 22h ago

It is interesting to me because MAGA hates people different than them, yet they want to force two very different cultures to join the USA? How do they see it playing out?

"I know our president and party basically kidnapped you all, but vote for RED, ok?"

5

u/Parzival_1775 21h ago

Trump wants Greenland, therefore MAGA wants Greenland. It really is as simple as that.

-1

u/AleroRatking New York 21h ago

To be fair every single American should want Greenland (and the majority of countries). Greenlands trade value is going to skyrocket in 20 years.

3

u/Parzival_1775 21h ago

The only people entitled to that "trade value" are the people of Greenland. And they've made it abundantly clear that they want nothing to do with this dumpster fire.

1

u/AleroRatking New York 21h ago

I mean. I guess. But that's not how the world works. You can say that about an area that has ever been taken over.

Also as of right now, Greenland by itself does not have the trade infrastructure for what will be needed when the icecaps melt.

But yes. Us being a dumpster fire does not help. Greenland would take almost anyone over us right now.

1

u/Hazer_123 21h ago

they want to force two very different cultures to join the USA?

Maybe they will wipe out the culture from Greenland and replace it with MAGA-approved clown show.

1

u/AleroRatking New York 21h ago

Greenland is a shit ton of money

MAGA loves money more than anything else.

1

u/AleroRatking New York 21h ago

Correct. They can be one of the richest countries in the world due to their trade rights. Their goal has to be independence but they don't have the military to hold it

28

u/Duanedoberman 23h ago

Greenland have literally just formed a coalition of 4 out of 5 parties to oppose American takeover.

They never did this for Denmark.

5

u/NinjaLanternShark 21h ago

"Imagine an enemy so hated, that you willingly united with the Democrats. That's what they think of us."

14

u/Dogdiscsanddyes 23h ago

And?

It can simultaneously be true that some may not be part of Denmark and almost all don't want to be part of the USA. Stop pretending like this is some gotcha moment and the USA is posturing for Greenland's own good.

4

u/skrztek 22h ago

Well, that's how these people operate isn't it? They come out with deliberate half truths to steer the opinion of their ignorant base.

13

u/Sharmi888 Europe 23h ago

Actually there was poll. I think more than 70% wished independence. But there was second question, in which more than 80% would rather stay under Denmark than USA.

11

u/TintedApostle 23h ago

They also preferred the EU over the US. Notice they didn't turn out for JD and wife. They cancelled all their events and went inside.

1

u/AleroRatking New York 21h ago

That doesn't surprise me. That sounds about right

13

u/AINonsense 23h ago

They want to be part of Denmark a lot more than they want to be part of the US.

9

u/Practical_Ad_9756 23h ago

Why would Marco Rubio think he can speak for the Greenlanders?

2

u/NinjaLanternShark 21h ago

Why would Marco Rubio think

Lemme stop you right there...

I actually liked Rubio during the 2016 primary. But like so many others, he completely abandoned his own ideas and ideals, and became a mouthpiece for Trump.

3

u/confused_ma 21h ago

Because he is Orange mans asshole.

Text:

BRUSSELS - Denmark should focus on the fact that Greenlanders do not want to be a part of the country, US Secretary of State Marco Rubio said on April 4.

"Greenlanders are going to make a decision," Mr Rubio told reporters at a press conference after meeting other Nato foreign ministers in Brussels.

Incoming Greenlandic Prime Minister Jens-Frederik Nielsen told Danish broadcaster TV2 on April 4 that Mr Rubio was not right.

"We are human beings up here; we are not a piece of property that can be bought. Partnerships and cooperation can always be discussed, but talk of annexation is unacceptable,” he said.

"He is not right that Greenland wants to secede tomorrow. He is right that Greenland does not want to be Danish, but Greenland certainly doesn't want to be American either," the prime minister, whose new coalition is expected to formally take office on April 7, told TV2.

“We work every day to build a foundation so that we can stand on our own in the future, but we are not there yet. What he (Rubio) says doesn’t hold water,” he said.

In the last 100 years, the USA has rarely acted as short-sightedly as it does today. These dilettantes in government have strengthened Russia so that they plan further attacks on NATO territories in the next 10 years, have strengthened China so that they have built up an air force and navy to take Taiwan and have shown imperialist ambitions to violate international law and conquer foreign territories. This is the core of MAGA and the beginning of a development into a secondary power.

4

u/4TheyKnow 23h ago

And they want to be part of the US even less.

6

u/HopeFloatsFoward 23h ago

Sounds like that's between them two.

8

u/Goddamitdonut 23h ago

Nobody gave a thought to them until putin incepted it into shitlers mind

5

u/antoinedoineljr 23h ago

What a lying sack

0

u/AleroRatking New York 21h ago

It's not a lie. It's just not telling the full story

70% of greenlanders wants independence. Therefore this statement is true.

However 80% would prefer to be under Denmark than US.

This is typical politician speech. Telling the truth but leaving parts out

3

u/Tony2030 23h ago

"Look, whatever, just comply, OK?"

3

u/Any-Where 22h ago edited 22h ago

It is true that they want independence. But all these threats from America are needlessly complicating matters and will inevitably further delay any honest attempts to break away from Denmark.

1

u/Hazer_123 22h ago

Greenlanders said "We do not want to be part of Denmark", and right after this also added "And we do not want to be part of America either". Rubio is intentionally misquoting the Greenlanders' wish for independence as an excuse to sieze the piece of land.

2

u/decaturbob 21h ago

rubio is a known liar working for an admin that always lies and who the fuck would believe a single word from either is an idiot deserving of the outcome that will not be of their liking

2

u/diskogavatron 22h ago

Why would any country take him seriously? Like this guy knows anything about anything at this point. Just a republican stooge with an A4 page of bullet points that he's been told to read.

3

u/Hazer_123 22h ago

Why would any country take him seriously?

The only reason his words are rightfully considered a threat, is because he echoes the average MAGA train of thought, and they have the power to invade overseas land, so it's not something to ignore.

1

u/diskogavatron 21h ago

This is also the guy that sat arms folded and sunk in to a couch while Zelensky was scolded in the White House for whatever stupid reason they made up on the day. He's a mouth piece and a stooge. Nothing more, nothing less. But I get what you're saying.

2

u/taz_78 22h ago

Nobody wants to part of our cowardly shit stain nation, Rubio you spineless fucking worm.

Just another MAGA use partial information to twist the reality.

Fasc-plaining?

1

u/dropkickninja 21h ago

Marco is not going to want to be part of the trump administration soon. Actions have consequences

1

u/Candid-Piano4531 21h ago

Greenlanders want an authoritarian leader who imposes 25% taxes on its citizens and sends people to foreign prisons if they don’t speak English- M. RUBIO

1

u/AleroRatking New York 21h ago

Greenland is in a fascinating situation. They will 100% change hands in the next 20 years. Their value due to future trade is so monumental that I just don't see how Denmark can hold it.

With that said we botched this royally. Getting Greenland as part of the US is extremely smart. It should absolutely be a priority. But instead we threatened and puffed our chests which almost ensures they will fight back. We should have been working calm backroom deals.

This is the case of Trump being correct about somethings value, but completely botching every single thing after that fact.

1

u/crs7117 21h ago

how long until he proclaims the exact opposite?

1

u/crazybones 20h ago

What an utterly disingenuous statement.

Could only have come from Rubio.

1

u/SilentProtagonist_33 23h ago

Of course, humming the same tune like his Orange overlord

1

u/Big-Initiative5762 23h ago

Projecting again Rubio? Alaska wants to be part of Russia again, perhaps?

0

u/Hayes4prez Kentucky 22h ago

What happened to Marco?

Someone should look into his finances.

1

u/NinjaLanternShark 21h ago

I for one am greatly disappointed. He was my pick in the 2016 GOP primary.

Cory Booker was my pick in the Dem primary so I was 0 for 2 :(

1

u/AleroRatking New York 21h ago

He lost big in 2016 (like most moderate Republicans from 08-16) so he pivoted parties to be successful.

-3

u/ActualModerateHusker 23h ago

invading Greenland would actually be less problematic than Trump's tariffs.
